Madison Bay High was a stark contrast compared to the rest of the town. While the buildings within the town were bright, colourful and inviting, the High School, however, was a horrible, boring slab of grey concrete. The hallways and classrooms of the five storey complex, only added to the bland nature, using a plain grey and white colour scheme. The only colour to grace the insipid property of the school was the lush green of the school fields. Nothing about this school ever changed.

I watched the car park from the Library window as the cars filed in. The same cars, same cliques and the same faces. I turned from the window and focussed on Charlie, who was rushing through her homework.

I felt the guilt build again as I thought of the secret I was keeping from her. In all of our ten years of friendship, we had never kept secrets from each other. I told her I was a Siren very early on in our friendship. Hiding this increasing craving from her was hard. Blood. Even the word itself was tempting. I couldn't understand why I was beginning to crave this so suddenly. Not to mention I had no previous knowledge of my people experiencing Bloodlust.

I was distracted from my thoughts by the rumbling of incoming vehicles. My head snapped back to the window, my eyes following the parade of new vehicles. A motorbike lead the procession, followed by two jeeps and a silver Camaro. The vehicles were all shiny and new. I rolled my eyes at the ostentatious nature.

Charlotte had apparently noticed the new arrivals also.

"Do they mind? The shininess is hurting my eyes. If I go blind, they'll be paying the medical bills."

I laughed. No longer paying attention to the new arrivals, I faced my best friend, again. "According to those monster cars, I'm sure they'll be able to afford it, Char."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. I'm finished, Let's go get something to eat before class starts."

I frowned at her. "Charlotte, you ate half an hour ago?"

She smirked cheekily at me. "Yes, but I haven't had my chocolate fix, yet."

I smiled, before heaving myself up. "Come on then, Loser. We'll find you some chocolate."

We headed out of the Library into the crowded hallways. The salty smell of humans pressed closely together assaulted my senses, accompanied by an unidentifiable, faint wet dog scent. I shrugged it off, before paying attention to my surroundings. Clusters of girls were giggling and whispering loudly about the new 'hotties,' while the ever humble boys were arrogantly staking claims over the new 'babes'. Charlotte and I looked at each other before rolling our eyes and laughing at their pettiness.

"They're not exactly subtle, are they?" Charlotte asked.

I giggled. "Not really, No."

We continued walking towards the Cafeteria, pushing past groups that stood obnoxiously in the centre of the hallway. Charlotte and I continued to poke fun at the other students, until the door leading to the Main Reception swung open. Confusion set in as the smell of Wet dog tripled. A group of nine people walked out, a mixture of five boys and four girls. Though they all differed in looks, I noticed one trait they all shared. A ring of liquid silver circled each of their irises. I finally understood what the scent belonged too.

Werewolf.
