"Thank you... we need to get you to the cave. Or we need to start moving"

"I say move. Those screeches will only attract more shadow walkers. Which is something neither of us need..."

I stand up and limp.

"I can go get your things just stay here."

I watch Luna run up into the cave. I give a small smile, and a hint of a chuckle. This little girl trusting me with her life. I may have made this promise but i am not to sure if i can keep her alive. It's almost winter, meaning snow and loads of it up here in the mountains.

When she makes her way down I have discovered my leg is broken. Not very good, but I guess that's what I get for playing hero. When she gets to me i grab a branch I have made into a crutch and support myself on it.

"Oh no! You broke your leg! I am so sorry. Is there anythi-"

"No."

She falls silent as I cut her short with a temper I usually get when in pain. I grab my bad from her and through it on my shoulders and start walking. She's not far behind and soon right beside me. Not soon after thirty minutes she starts asking me qeustion's.

"Where you born this way?"

"no."

"Oh. Well where are your parents? "

"Dead."

I look down at her as we walk in the leaves that are growing with snow. She looks like she's thinking her questions over.

"Okay. I'm sorry... so were you in one of the big buildings?"

"A facility? Yes."

"What did they do to you? And how many doctor's did you have?"

"I had one doctor. His name was Sebastian Sullivan. He was around my age at the time..."

"Was he nice?"

"Yeah. Extremely... he was the one that help me get out. The one i cared and loved was shot down afterwards. But it is life and we all must learn to deal with it...'

"So how old are you?"

"I am 16...but really I am more like a thousand and some years.... I am immortal, I can not die of a gun shot or anything as that... maybe just natural causes. I do get hurt though... obviously. What about you. How old are you Luna?"

"I am 10."

"Aw. Sweet age."

I look at her forehead, the star glowing a pale purple. When they grow pale like that their cold, or thinking to hard. I look up and sniff the air as I walk. I hear and smell a river up ahead. Food and water, good.

"Hey. There is a river up ahead. Imma catch us some food and get some water. When we get here i want you to climb a tree understand?"

"Yes."

Getting tothe the river i branch of from her. She has my bag and is up in a tree like I told her. I limp to the river. Getting there I grab my canteen and fill it with water to be boiled so we can drink it. I then find a few fish and grab them with my hands and lay them on land. I grab four fish and the head back to Luna. She comes down and I hand her a fish.

We eat them raw, but if we light a fire and rest we are screwed for two reasons.

One. Bears, mountain lions, and all aorta of things not to mention shadow walkers. Then two, we sit down and rest we won't get back up. Meaning we will probably go to sleep. Then we would get mugged by the beasts or freeze.

I eat a fish as i watch her gulp hers down.I hand her the last two.

"But you need to eat."

"I am good I have had one. You need it more... just eat..."

"Okay..."

I watch as she eats, she shivering. I don't like this. Hypothermia is all i can think. I take of my jacket and grab two shirts from my bag and take the fish from her and wrap her in them. I then notice this girl has no shoes. I sigh and sit down take off my boots and put them on her.

"What ....are you doing?" She says with a mouth full of food.

"Keeping you warm. Eat."

I get done and stand. My body freezing from the drop in climate. But then again now i am only wearing, a tank top, pants, and socks. With the exception of a few bandaged wraps.

When she finishes her food we start up again. We walk for miles. Until stopping to rest and asleep for the cold night ahead.
