"What the fuck, dude?"
Emptying out my stomach, I turn to face the owner of the voice, and practically chuck on him too. After watching him turn and run off like the road runner, I buy a water bottle from the convenience store, and down it in one swig. I'm not completely sober, but the world had come back into focus now, so that was a good start.
Where was I headed again? I look down at my wrist, and the flashing light reminds me. I notice a diner down the road, and decide that I need some caffeine to sober up faster. Maybe I can even see if they make my favourite hot chocolate drink.

Rubbing my sweaty palms on my jeans, I look around the diner to see if there were any available candidates. The diner was deserted except for a burly, middle-aged man in a construction uniform, and a couple of workers. The anticipation was killing me. As I was about to put my headphones back in, I notice a figure walking along the sidewalk. Standing in view,I could see that he was wearing a checkered shirt, and khakis. That has to be him. With adrenaline pumping through my veins, I jump up and i'm welcomed by the downpour of a scalding, hot beverage down the front of my shirt.
"Oh gosh! I'm so sorry Lizy!" Beth cried. "I didn't see that you were getting up!"
The burn was so excruciating at that moment, that I pushed Beth out of the way, and ran for the washroom. Although I'm pretty sure I hadn't gotten a burn, the only thought that was running through my mind was the fact that it now looked like I had shit my pants.

For some odd reason, the timer started beeping. Like it was counting down every dreadful second until we meet. The ministry will celebrate by ending the "battery" life on someone else's timer. After all, they do control the amount of lives they make, by taking some away.
The diner was completely abandoned, except for a couple of workers, one of which was staring at me from behind the cash register. I knew that it wouldn't be true, but since I still had a minute left I decided to place my order with a side of flirty stares, and dirty thoughts running through my mind.

I felt my eyes burn with unshed tears, and I was anxiously trying to get my emotions back in check, but I couldn't. Everything was going wrong today, even though it was supposed to be one of the most memorable days of my life. Before I knew it, I was sobbing on the washroom floor, snotty toilet paper surrounding me like a barrier.
"Is this what you learned from me?"
Hazel's voice echoed in my head, and even though I put my hands over my ears to stop the voice, I knew it wouldn't work. She was inside my head, and she was never going to leave.
"Lizy, is this what I taught you? That when things don't go your way, you sit down and drown in your own sorrow?"
Her voice was exactly like my mothers. Before the accident, Hazel and I had gotten into a heated argument while she was driving. She was so caught up in explaining herself to me that she didn't notice the minivan that had ran a red light. The doctors said that she died on impact.
I should be dead too, but I guess God, or the defibrillator had different plans for me. My older sister had died, and her blood was on my hands.
"Get up, collect yourself, and get out there."
I looked up expecting to see her, but she was gone. She was right. If I was going to be like this and mourn her death every day, I'd go insane. I mentally prepared myself, re-did my foundation, and made my way out the washroom door. I was about to meet my soul mate.
