In the classroom of 207, Mrs. Candler had just started her lecture on Government and had already lost Lance's attention to a bird outside the window. The bird had light bronze feathers blew in the wind and honey brown eyes. It sat on the edge of the window seal and chirped softly. The birds presence amused Lance. He watched it just sit there and contemplate where to go next, then jumped off the edge and sail off into the distance. On cue with the bird's flight, Lance sighed and turned back to his notebook.

The class was same as it was yesterday- boring. Lance gave up trying to listen to Mrs. Candler. He would get the notes from Kyle, who kept eyeing him and his empty notebook. Lance shrugged it off even as Kyle's glare of disapproval was drilling into his head. He couldn't be bothered. Mrs. Candler was nice. However, she was like the teacher from Charlie Brown. Her voice was monotone and plain. It didn't help that she was a pushover, and most of her assignments didn't make sense. So there was no reason to try to listen to Mrs. Candler, because at the end of the lecture, Lance wouldn't have learned a thing anyways. Kyle's notes were the best option.

Lance was broke from his thoughts when a book landed on his desk.

"Would you like to explain your opinion on the matter, Mr. Webb?" Mrs. Candler was standing in front of him. Lance bit his lip and smiled at Mrs. Candler.

"Well, I don't really have an opinion on the matter, Mrs. Candler."

"You don't have an opinion or you don't know what we're talking about?" Mrs. Candler questioned with a raised eyebrow.

Lance opened his mouth to have no words come out. Only the sound of the bell was heard.

"Well, we can continue this discussion tomorrow, right, Mrs. Candler?" Lance said and hastily packed his bag before basically running out the door.

Behind him, Lance heard Kyle and Harry state their goodbyes and run after him.

"Smooth, Lance," Harry snickered.

"Oh, shut up. She's so monotonous! Who could listen to her for an hour and not zone out?"

Kyle huffed in annoyance.

"Kyle, you can't be serious. You must have zoned out at least once in her lecture," Lance whined. When Kyle didn't have an answer, Lance knew he was correct.

"What was the topic anyway?" Lance asked, knowing he would need an explanation for class tomorrow.

"The legalization of same-sex marriage. Remember the big event that had Will spamming our phones with hearts and smiley faces?" Harry stuffed chips into his mouth.

"Oh yeah..." Lance said and zoned out of the conversation. His attention went to the windows they were passing.

"You okay, Lance?" Harry questioned. When no answer was received, Harry jumped in front of Lance and waved a hand in his face. "Lance?"

"Yeah? Oh, what did you ask?" Lance chuckled.

"He asked if you were okay. You've been spacing out a lot lately," Kyle said as they walked into Mr. K's math class.

"I've just been thinking," Lance mumbled as he sat down in his chair.

Before either boy could further question Lance, Mr. K. walked in and the class became. Kyle had noticed the tension in Lance's shoulder as Mr. K. walked in. Kyle lightly elbowed Lance, and saw the boy snap his head in Kyle's direction. Kyle never had seen Lance's eyes so big.

"What's happened?" Kyle mouthed. Kyle was expecting the worst, like "I just saw someone die." However, "I forgot the homework" was Lance's response.
