School. Again. I sighed as I walked past the gates. Students milled around the grounds. There was ten minutes left for the bell to ring. I made my way over to a large oak tree and sat under it. I took out my bottle of garnet nail polish. It had cost me five weeks of saving up but it was worth it. I loved the colour as it expressed my personality. I swiftly applied a fresh coat on my nails before putting it away and standing up. I realised I had been wandering around aimlessly when a girl bumped into me. Her blond hair flowed down in ringlets and she wore a red fancy dress.(pic on side) I recognised her as Cecilia. She was the school diva for whom guys fall head over heels for and she dismisses them carelessly. The sorts.
"Ugh. Loser," she muttered, eyeing my plain grey T-shirt and black skinny jeans disdainfully.
"Speak for yourself. Ever looked in a mirror?" I retorted. She rolled her eyes and was about to bite back when she saw somebody over my shoulder and gasped.
"Oh, I'm sorry. You see, I have things better to do than speaking to morons like you," she chirped in an overly sweet voice and walked past me.
"You don't say!" I gasped in mock horror. She flipped her hair over her shoulder imperiously and glared at me before taking off for a guy. Typical.
The bell rang. I sighed and made my way to my first class alone. As you could probably guess, I was somewhat of a loner. I had nobody. Not that I cared. I settled down in my usual seat at the back of the class and watched as students trickled in. Mr. Nate, the Geography teacher, was about to shut the door when another guy walked in. What were the odds that it was Jake Anderson?
I groaned mentally as girls straightened and prissed themselves up and boys shot him jealous looks. Jake scanned the class until his gaze settled on me. I was the only one who still looked relaxed and carefree with my feet propped up onto the desk. Which would have been enough to make any new person sit as far from me as possible. Sadly, this was not the case for Jake-the-new-hot-guy. He offered me a smile as he dropped into the seat next to mine. I kept my face cold and impassive as I gave him a quick indifferent nod. I saw that he looked muddled by my peripheral vision. Poor thing. It must be such a shocker when a girl didn't frantically try to powder her nose upon catching his eye. Eh.
"Hello. My name is-" he began quietly as Mr. Nate began the lesson.
"-Jake Anderson, I know. I would tell you my name, but I'm sure any one of these gits can inform you that if you ask," I gave a noncommital shrug. He raised an eyebrow, surprised.
"Wow...." he muttered.
"Surprised that I'm not fangirling over you?" I chuckled darkly. He laughed with me.
"Actually, I'm relieved," he answered and I nodded before my dear teacher interrupted me.
"Alexandra! Can you answer this question?" my Geography teacher asked, pointing to the question on the whiteboard.
"It's Alex. And no, I can't. Don't bother sending me to John because you know what's going to happen," I replied off-handedly. Mr. Nate seethed but ignored me for the rest of the lesson which worked fine by me. The girls were already glaring at me because I had said hi to Jake.
"Hmmm.....Alex... I like it... Who's John?" Jake asked me.
"The principal," I said calmly. Jake nearly toppled out of his seat. We didn't speak after that. But I could feel his gaze on me even though I kept my attention on the lesson. Somehow, I knew that that wasn't the end of Jake and I.
