Chapter 2: Nightmares

"I hope your dreams come true. Nightmares are dreams too, just remember." - Unknown

Patiently waiting for her sister's return (Who hasn't returned for /two hours/! Maple, where is she. . . ?), Madeline slowly petted her polar bear in which people mistook it as a stuffed bear. The Canadian outwardly sighed (In my standards though, through others it'll just be like regular breathing), mentally having a mini-rant on the fact that. . . Wait, what's his name again? Oh forget it. Anyways, the point is, he is /not/ a stuffed animal.

In the middle of the rant, the Canadian noticed that her boisterous sister had not return to the hotel room. Her slight anger now swapped with worry, the worst situations surfacing in her mind. At the peak of these visuals, Madeline couldn't even tell what was real and what wasn't.

"M-Maple. . ." The said Canadian whispered to herself. "What if A-Amelia got h-hurt. . . ?" She shivered, frightened of the thought and quickly dismissed the thought that was put to question.

At an attempt to ease her mild panicking, Madeline fidgeted with the end of one of her pigtails her blond hair were always put up in. Since playing around with her hair while it being put up in pigtails bothered her, she let her blonde hair go loose, ending with curls on her lower back. Once she did this, she continued doing the same as before.

Seeing that her anxiety has only increased, she sighed and turned on the television to try to calm down.

Of course, her luck just went downhill from the moment she turned it on.

The forty-inch plasma's screen was of the news, "BREAKING NEWS" (Yes, it's in English. . .) in large bold letters taking up most of the screen. Madeline started to wonder briefly what happened now until the questioning was cut short. The news reporter, who was speaking in German (Subtitles were in the bottom, no worries), started to report of a woman being run over. Normally, Madeline would ignore them or would be forced to change the channel (It's called Amelia. . .).

Now, though, she listened at the description, hoping that the woman would /somehow/ not be Amelia. Of course, her luck just ran out. The description was identical to Amelia, making Madeline on the edge of her seat. Once they showed the address, Madeline sprang up from where she was sitting, wrote down the address, and took Kuma and went to the car.

When Madeline arrived at the scene, the Canadian's jaw dropped. She opened the door of the car and slammed it shut, afterwards running to the scene.

The Canadian took all of her inward strength and struggled to finally reached to her inflicted sister. "A-Amelia! Maple. . . W-What happened. . . ?" Madeline shrieked, panic obvious through her tone of voice and eyes.

Despite her current state, the bleeding American woman managed to make a meager smile. "Don't worry about. . . M-Me. I-I'm fine. . . !" Amelia weakly stated, furiously coughing afterwards. The said woman was in a critical condition, crimson blood continuously flowing from her abdomen, staining the now deep red white shirt.

"D-Don't die, Amelia. . . !" Madeline commanded, even though she already knew her sister's fate. Amelia, still quite oblivious of the situation, gave a quiet yet cheery laugh. 'Amelia. . . Don't you know that you may die. . .' Madeline thought glumly.

"Dude, calm down, 'cause even if I do die, I-I'll be happy. Wanna know why. . . ?" Amelia said, somewhat humble (It's quite a shocker). "W-Why. . . ?" The Canadian woman shyly stuttered out. "Because, I was lucky enough to be your sister!" The American strained out, her energy draining quicker than what Madeline had feared.

'Dammit! If only she could just have a second chance!' Madeline thought, not taking note that tears commencing to spill. "Amelia. . . Don't leave me! W-Who will protect me now?" Sure, she did feel like a wimp when those words escaped her, but she /needed/ to say it.

It. . . Felt right to say it.

Amelia's eyes started to close, until she muttered, "B-Bye, sis." Madeline buried her face in her hands and wept for what seems like an eternity.

When she felt it was right, Madeline lifted her head and saw that no one was around and that they took her dear sister away.

What she didn't know was that a certain albino was eyeing her from a distance. . .
