I don't remember much before the day the auction was held. All I remember thinking was that I got a good owner. It was quite unusual thinking that soon I wouldn't be in charge of my own life.

On the day of the auction I remember seeing all these other children that were about to be slaves. Some of them had to be at least 15 years old. One of the slaves was trying to escape and being pulled by the hair on stage. I was very glad that I was not the first person up.

By the time it was my turn to be bought seven slaves had already been auctioned away. One of them was only bought for ten dollars. I walked onto the stage feeling nervous. I could hear people calling me a scrub. I felt like saying to them, "You try being captured for two weeks not being able to have a shower or brush your hair or teeth. It's not as easy as it sounds."

I don't remember much after that. I think i was auctioned for fifteen dollars. When I woke up the next morning I remember hearing lots of screaming and rattles. I then realised that I was in a cage.
