« I'm skipping the plane ride because I'm lazy af»
We landed and it was rush, rush, rush. There was a huge crowd awaiting our arrival. Tom was worried about losing me so he carried me off the plane. I think he might also have carried me so we could move faster. We went straight to the hotel and checked in. When we got to our room, Tom said I had to get ready for the Ellen Show. I was supposed to wear something nice. I chose a pretty lacey dress and matching cream flats. Tom was wearing a button up grey shirt and nice dress pants.
"Hurry. We still have to get their and get our hair and makeup done." He grabbed a cute white coat for me and a suit jacket for himself. We got in the car, amidst screaming fans, and drove fast.
"Tom, why is he driving wrong," I asked worried. He laughed.
"It's America a lot of things are different." Semi relaxed, I looked out the window and saw the beach. Not a gloomy foggy one like in England. A hot sunny one. It was really pretty. The car stopped and we got out. Tom held my hand and pulled me into the building. Once inside he slowed a bit. Probably realizing that my tiny legs can't move that fast. We saw a while bunch of people milling about and he weaved through them, me in tow. I tried my best to keep up. Finally, he stopped and opened a door. I followed inside. There were four other people in the room, waiting for us I guessed. Tom helped me into one chair and sat in the other. Each chair was positioned in front of a mirror with two people next to it. Hair and makeup supplies were placed out in front of me and they went to work.
"Go easy on the makeup, Bernard. She's only seven," Tom warned. The man, I figured he was Bernard, just grunted in response. The girl on my hair scared me a bit. She had short black hair with bright blue streaks in it, too many ear piercings, and one of those nose piercings that reminds me of a bull. To my surprise my hair turned out really well. She did it in a side pony and flipped it inward to create a twisty look and then curled it. Bernard also kept light makeup. I wore a little blush, some lip gloss, and that's it. A girl wearing all black and a headset peeked into the door.
"Ten minutes and you're on, Mr. Hiddleston." He nodded and turned to me.
"I'll go on first and then a stagehand, like the one you just saw, will come get you. They'll take you backstage where you have to be really quiet. Then they'll tell you when to go on stage and you come right over to me. Remember there's lots of people watching so breathe and it's okay if you get a little scared, I'll be right there, okay?"
"Yep," I said excited. As he finished talking, a 'stagehand' came in with two small black boxes that had long cords coming out of it. Tom untucked his shirt and secured a skin coloured band, with the black box in it, around his waist. He then brought up the cord underneath his shirt and secured something to his collar. He came over to me, as he tucked in his shirt, with another band.
"What's that?"
"It's a mic." He secured the band so the box was in the back and brought the cord up, securing my mic.
"Bernard, can we do something about this? A bow or something?" Bernard pulled out a silky ribbon and tied it over the mic. Then Tom had to go. He left me his phone to play on, though, so it was okay. About fifteen minutes later, a stagehand came and got me and brought me backstage. I turned the sound off and continued playing. I heard Tom and Ellen start talking about me and turned the game off, figuring I would go onstage soon. I didn't know what to do with his phone so I just held onto it as a stagehand directed me behind a curtain. The curtain began to open and my heartbeat sped up. I clutched Tom's phone tighter as I walked onstage. The crowd was unmistakably large. I looked away from them as they clapped loudly. I looked over and saw Tom smiling at me. Ellen stood up and came over to me, leading me to wear Tom sat. I sat down on the couch next to him.
"You look beautiful," Ellen said.
"Thanks," I practically whispered. I wasn't trying to be shy but my voice wasn't working as well as I would like.
"Well, isn't she a cutie," she said to Tom. He smiled really big and nodded.
"Yeah, she is." I tried to think of something to say but I ran a blank.
"What made you want to adopt?" Ellen was saying.
"Well, I'm not getting any younger- there's not really that special someone- and I was getting a little lonely by myself and I thought, why not adopt a kid? It's kind of a bizarre thought, but why not? So I talked to some people. Talked to my manager. All the good stuff. Then I decided to go check out an orphanage and found Ava." I tapped on Tom's shoulder.
"We-"
"Yeah, Ava." This was going worse than I thought.
"Here's your phone," I said quietly. He smiled and took it from me. Slipping it into his pocket, he kissed my forehead. The whole audience 'aww'ed.
"Thank you, Ava," he said and I blushed. Ellen kept talking then.
"She's so sweet."
"I'd like to say I did that but she did it all on her own," he chuckled.
"So I was thinking, for a little girl who can probably have anything in the world, what do I get her. I thought long and hard and came up with this." The wall opened up and Tom and I turned to see. It was a bunch of stuff and in the middle was a Loki costume. Not the cheap plastic ones you get at the market. It had a dress, and a gold cape, a metal crown thing, and gold sandals. I gasped in awe. I stood up and pulled Tom up. I wanted to go see. Ellen said something but I wasn't paying attention.
"Ever since she watched the film, she's been a bit obsessed." I saw the costume came with really pretty jewellery and even a staff that matched Loki's. I touched the fabric of the dark green dress and it was super soft.
"Now, you can take her on set and she can be Loki's minion."
"No, Loki wouldn't have a minion that's cuter than him. He has a daughter that's cuter though." The crowd 'aww'ed again. This costume was amazing. The cape felt like silk.
"Ava?"
"Huh?" I said coming out of my daze.
"I asked what it was like living with Tom," Ellen said.
"Oh. Um... it awesome. I have my own room and he cooks yummy food." Everyone laughed even though I was dead serious.
"Yummy food is always good. What else?"
"He plays dolls with me. And he tucks me in every night," I said truthfully. The crowd was on a role with this 'aww'ing thing.
"That's good. Well, we're out of time so if you want to keep looking at that while I do my conclusion, you can." I immediately turned back to the costume and the things surrounding it. Eventually, Tom grabbed my hand and led me off stage. Afterwards he informed me that all the things would be taken to our hotel. I was tired and ready to go home but the day wasn't over yet.
