I walked up to the familiar oak stable holding a red thermal rug, slid open the shining bolt and entered his freshly mucked out stall. Flicka walked over to me in a hopeful search for carrots and I reluctantly gave him one, after all, it had been a hard day of filming.
We were working on a big movie called "The Palomino Princess" and there are loads of stunt scenes. Today we filmed us jumping over a log, cantering through a river and a few rearing scenes. Tomorrow we're going to film a longish one where we have to gallop through a forest, lots of precision needed for that.
I pulled a few stands of straw from his automatic refilling water bowl and he began to drink thirstily. After he'd finished his drink I removed his blue, pink and green pastel head-collar and he started to use me as a scratching post, rubbing his copper head roughly up and down my stomach. I laughed, he might not be the easiest stunt horse to work with, being nervy and sometimes unpredictable but in my eyes he's the best horse ever. After he'd decided that his major itch was gone I did up the last buckle of his rug then gave him a final pat before leaving the stall and locking it behind me. Flicka imminently poked his head over the stable door and whickered but I knew he'd be fine for the night.
I walked to the movie sets parking lot to meet my mum who'd pick me up like she does every other night after a day at my job, after all, being 12 I can't drive yet. The gravel crunched under my black polished riding boots in the dark sky as I waited for my mum who was unusually slightly late. Just as I was beginning to worry her car turned inwards to where I was, her headlights illuminating me. I jogged up to the car and hopped in to the front leather seat next to her. "Why are you late?" I asked, she would normally be waiting for me as I fed Flicka, she replied with, "Sorry, there was traffic." I frowned, there shouldn't be traffic as the film set was miles from anywhere so that there wouldn't be any background noises that they didn't want doing the shoot. I decided to ignore it anyway though and just think of my comfy bed at home.
