I wake up and look around. Deuis and Godith are out and no one is there to keep me inside. I smirk and Peep runs up to me.
'Terra, don't! Deuis told me to keep you here.'
I stick my tongue out at him and get up then head for the mouth of the cave. It was midday so I was hoping the man would be out. Crawling out, I creep out into the woods with Peep hanging on to my ragged clothes, which I've learned to make through Godith's amazing knowledge.
Anyways, I creep through the underbrush and use my acute hearing to 'look' around. I hear the 'Dogg' breathing heavily nearby and the big feet of the man tromping behind the creature. I quickly make my way over to them but keep my distance just to be safe. He is still handsome as ever and the light of day seemed to amplify his handsome features, the light brightening his face and showing every wonderful detail and texture possible. At least that's what it seems like to me with my amazing vision.
The Dogg dashes towards me and licks my face and I smile, petting it in return. "Hello friend," I mutter and hope the human didn't hear me.
He did, slightly. He was focused in this area anyways since the Dogg came over here. As he makes his way closer, I tense and start to scramble backwards, motioning for the Dogg to stay put. Thankfully, it does and he is distracted by it. Quickly, I grab Peep and I whisper to him, "can you please watch him? At least learn his name then come back?"
He sighs but nods solemnly and creeps off towards the man. Peep can be an amazing friend sometimes. Other times, he's kind of mean.
I wait while listening closely. They start leaving and I let out a silent sigh of relief. When I know they are no where near close, I run on the opposite direction. Sometimes I like to run around and just play in the vast land around me. I climb a tree, instantly reminded of my first in counter with the man, and take in a deep breath of fresh air.
In the distance, a lake sits, dotted with swans and lined with unicorns and horses. They are always so nice that I decide I might as well drop by and say hello. Without a second thought, I jump out of the tree and head to the lake, not looking forward to possibly seeing Odette, in her snooty vanity and always annoying harping of self-praise.
Luckily, she is not there and the unicorns greet me. I sit there with them, brushing their hair and talking with them for a while before a shadow passes over me. Instantly, I freeze as the others flee for safety.
Godith prods my back with her nose and I allow a small hiss to escape my lips.
'I see you've disobeyed orders.' She gives me an authoritative look, making me shrink in guilt. 'Come now. Deuis was worried.'
I give the slightest of nods and climb onto her back. She flies back to the cave silently, where I am bombarded with scolding remarks and lectures from Deuis.
"I cannot believe you blatantly disobeyed my orders! I told you no more outside and you still insisted on doing what you wanted. Can you not see I an trying to protect you!?" Deuis glared at me, only speaking the Old Language because he wanted to get his point across. I keep my mouth shut, knowing any protests were futile. He continued despite my lack of an answer. "Terra, Xyrion and Ezra trusted Godith and me to protect you and if that means keeping you locked up forever then so be it... But I simply cannot have you getting so... attached to those disgusting beings! This is your last warning. Next time you leave without permission, I will personally see to it that you are kept here until you are far past the age of maturity."
I wince. That would mean being at least my biological mothers age. That's about 100 years old and, for a human, that's very old. I give a curt nod as my wings fold into me and my head bows so I would not have to bring myself to look Deuis in the eye. I fake disappointment in my self but there is the small pang of guilt etched into my mind. Godith looks away, trying not to get drawn into the line of fire. When such a proud Dragon like Deuis is upset, everyone else he could possibly drag in to his mess is upset but Godith knows better than to fuel his tantrum.
After a long pause of silence, filled with huffs of anger from the male Dragon, I'm finally banished to my bed. I stay there, pretend sulking, until the sun goes down and Peep returns, squeaking quietly as to not disturb the sleeping Dragons nearby.
I excitedly sit up and nodded, eyes wide and a large grin plastered on my features with all fangs present. "Yes? His name?" I lean close to hear the name of my obvious meant-to-be-mate. Maybe I'm a little too hyperactive and over-enthusiastic about this but oh well.
Peep shrinks at my over-enthusiasm then quietly squeaks, 'The human is named... J-Julian.'
'Julian.' The name bounced around my skull as I mumble it enough times to engrave it in stone. I give one last nod before hugging the mouse without crushing him and contain a squeal of delight. "Julian... Thank you Peep."
As I drift off, I recollect my memories of this man and sigh contently. The last thing I murmur before fatigue takes me into his comforting hold is "Julian."
