The dark forest was something my mother always told me to stay away from. She described it as a place where horrible monsters lived. Where they preyed on the innocent. A place that was the home to lots of tall trees that created dark shadows that scared you shitless. It was a dull vast place. The air was cold, thick & foggy the echoed silence that surrounded you made it even more intense. Even the smallest sounds scared you. There was no light due to the tall trees you couldn't even see above them. The sky was not like the usual beautiful night skies with stars scattered all over the place. No. It was pitch black and starless. The dark forest was strictly off limits my mother always told me too many people went in and never returned.
But she never told me that would be the place where I'd run to first when a monster was chasing me. My small feet taking me straight there. As I ran I could hear the branches snapping under my feet. My long hair blowing madly in the wind. I pushed through all of the leaves. I heard him behind me and that frightened me. His heavy footsteps were catching up to me. I wanted to scream out for help but I refused to let him know he was close to me. I started tripping over small rocks and twigs.
"YOU LITTLE BITCH. GET BACK HERE YOU CAN' T HIDE FROM ME." His raspy voice screamed out, the silence made it echo through the forest.
My knee hit the ground and I winced. "Ow" I mumbled holding up my knee to see it bleeding. I had to keep going I couldn't let him catch me. At that moment I couldn't tell what was scarier being chased down or the endless forest. My mind was racing. I jumped back on my feet and proceeded to run. It was hard the pain bothering me. I didn't know where else to go I could no longer hear his heavy footsteps behind me so I rested behind a tree. I tried to sit down as quietly as possible careful to not giving him any leading hints. I pulled my left knee up to my chest and inspected it. "What if I never make it out ?" "What if a monster attacks me?" "What if the monster that's chasing me hurts me again? Would mommy and daddy save me this time? Would they even know that i'm hiding in the dark forest?" A whole bunch of what ifs ran through my mind and now I was even more frightened. A small tear slipped down my cheek and then I heard it. A whole bunch of twigs snapping. I couldn't tell which direction it was coming from. My eyes searching every side. As I tried to stand up and sprint a large hand gripped my arm and slammed me onto the dirty ground. IT WAS HIM. My breathing accelerated.
"NO NO NO NO" I cried out as I tried to push his heavy body away from me. He didn't even flinch as my fist hit his chest. I started to sob I wanted my mommy and daddy. His hands traveled down my small body and I continued to attempt pushing him away.
"HELP SOMEONE HELP ME". I yelled at the top of lungs I needed someone to hear me I was desperate. As I continued to scream I felt a sharp pain at the side of my cheek and I continued sobbing. "Shut the fuck up you little slut. Did you think you was actually going to get away from me?" he growled. His hands unzipped my pants and pulled them down my legs I kicked him in his face and turned to run but he reacted faster than I thought. He grabbed my legs and dragged me to a dark tree that had something written on it as I continued to scream. He flipped my body over harshly.
He slid my little pink panties to the side and entered me. "NO" I screamed out in pain. It hurt it hurt so bad and the only thought running through my mind was why is this happening to me. I stared at the pitch black sky and screamed out in pain the tears seeming never ending just like the forest. "Sssh baby there's no point in screaming no one's ever going to hear you" he grunted as he kept going in and out of me. I still attempted at pushing him away. "Please no" I whispered as my voice cracked. All you could hear throughout the forest was my screaming and his moans.
"SHUT THE FUCK UP" He howled continuously hitting me.
"NO" I yelled out tears streaming down my face as my eyes shot open from the horrible flashback I was having. My breathing was heavy and I felt the figure next to me jolt up. The sweat engulfed my body as images from that night raced through my mind. I was terrified I couldn't go back to sleep after what just happened.
"Ssh princess it's ok it was just a bad dream" I turned my head and faced Preston. His piercing blue eyes staring right back at mine. The moonlight illuminating the small room that Preston slept in. My cheeks were stained with my previous tears as I wiped the sweat off my forehead. He leaned over and pressed a small kiss to my forehead. I threw the blanket off of me and Preston mimicked my actions. His arms wrapped around my waist "Just come back to bed baby". I nodded my head slowly and laid down he pulled me into the spooning position. He tangled our legs together and pulled me as close as possible. I let out a huge sigh. I was not going to be able to go to sleep after this but I didn't want to keep Preston up. If only he knew that it wasn't just a dream, that those things really did occur.
"It felt so real" I whispered interlocking our fingers.
