I had my back turned to my mom and she zipped the pink zipper up so I could wear my new frilly pink dress for the first day of third grade. My brother, Dillon came down the stairs in a nice jacket and jeans. He scowled at my outfit and I shot him a pouty face and my mother scolded me for moving. She had finally finished brushing my hair and she placed a kiss on each of our foreheads before watching us get on the bus. I smiled with the nice, white teeth in my mouth at all of the kids that stared at my face.
My smile disappeared when Yala, my best friend, looked at me as if I were an alien.
We finally got off the bus and in the school, and my day was already not going as planned. Just last week, I was walking with Dillon down the street, and we passed his house. Jagged, his dog, wasn't on a leash, and I got a huge scar across my eye from his massive paw. I had teeth marks in my neck and thighs, and the kids at my school were looking at me as i were a completely different person.

I warily smile at my mom and get a kiss goodbye. Today is my first day of fourth grade. I pray that this day won't be as bad as last year's first day. Dillon and I get on the bus and I sit next to him.We arrive at school and I unload my backpack into my locker. When I close it, I find my classroom and meet my new teacher, Mrs. Jamie, who turns around and gasps, she must've seen my eye.
About a year ago, I was mauled by Jagged, and he scarred my eye forever. She nearly fainted when she saw me. I had tears in my eyes and she apologized saying that I had just "startled" her because I "snuck up on her". The kids pile into the classroom and all each take their glare at my eye.

Today is my first day of fifth grade, I brush my hair and teeth, then exit my house without saying goodbye to my parents, and enter the bus. I sit by myself now. Since Dillon is a year older than me, this year he is in the middle school. This is my final year in elementary school. Dillon has friends, I don't. He's lucky he didn't end up with the scratches, because I'd give anything to trade lives with him.I don't even say hello to my new teacher, since she's already occupied with my eye. I feel empty at my desk, the kids don't want to be around me. Last year, since I was getting beat up on the playground, they had to take me out of recess, so I am already ready for no recess. I've never had a sleepover, never have been invited to a party, never have been in a clique, I just didn't fit in.
