It was approaching the time that Tommy's party was going to be at. I was in a black bikini and I was as nervous as ever to go to this party. What if I'm the only person that isn't swimming? They'll know something is up. What if my reputation went to at this school too?

I grabbed the P!ATD towel and my black goggles. I slipped booty shorts up my thighs and then exited my house. Dillon, of course, didn't want me to go. And my mother was ashamed that I was covering the scar that takes up a little less than half my face. My dad, though, was letting me do what I wanted since the rest of my life has sucked, so I could go.

It wasn't a very long walk there, and I found the place just by the loud music he had playing.

It was about 7:30 when things took a turn for the negative. We were all up on Tommy's deck and eating hotdogs and hamburgers. Once everybody was finished they got in the pool again, and I sat back down, so I sat back down. A girl with dirty blonde hair and dull blue eyes was standing near me with a group of girls that included Brooke.

Tommy and two others asked me to get them a drink so I left the pool deck to go to the cooler by his back door. I grabbed three bottles of beer mixed with root beer, and bent down by the pools edge to hand Tommy the drinks. I stood back up and smiled down at him, he smiled back. I felt all warm and tingly inside, as if I had a huge crush on him, and in this case, I DID have a huge crush on him.

I turned around to go back to the chair to sit down but the girl with dirty blonde hair shoved me into the pool. The warmth from pleasing my crush was gone and now I was struggling to get to the surface. I hadn't gotten the chance to get any air in my lungs before I was completely submerged in the cold liquid. I furiously kicked, trying to find the surface. Holy shit, how deep was this kids pool? I struggled and felt the cold bottom of the pool. I opened my eyes and let more bubbles escape my mouth. Water broke into my mouth as I screamed underwater. The water went up my nose and stung my lungs. I kicked and beat at the water, as it lapped at my skin. I kicked off the bottom of the pool and finally reached the surface, gasping for air. I flung myself out of the pool, and dashed to the guard rail.

I flung my head over the rail and all of the water I just swallowed came back up. I felt somebody's hand support me as I vomited. I was so caught up with nearly drowning that I didn't even realize my eye no longer had makeup on it. I stopped throwing up and my hand instinctively smacked my left eye. I held my hand there and turned around to face Tommy.

He looked at me confused, and I let the tears roll down my cheeks, it wasn't like anybody could tell the difference between the tears and the water.

"Why are you covering your eye?" Brooke questioned with an evil glare at me.

"I hit it on the b-bottom of t-the pool!" I try to lie. But the dirty blonde haired girl appears in front of me again and forcefully pulls my hand off my eye.

"HA!" she shouts

Everyone gasps.

I faint.

When I wake up, I am back in my new room. Was it just a dream? Did I sleep for so long that I missed the party?

But when I stood up I feel the burning in my lungs from water going up my nose. I rush out of bed and bend over at the toilet and let it rip once again. That was such a disaster. So many people were there, everybody's going to know now!

I limp out into the apartment kitchen and sit on a chair. I look at the clock. 11:58. I feel a sharp pain in my wrist, and see a huge gash in it. I just shake my head and go back to my bed.

The next day, a gentle hand shakes me awake, I groan in agony and look up at my mom. "Hey, look, I know last night wasn't the best but you can't miss school today. I have to go try and find a job. I love you, have a good day." But how do I have a good day when my reputation at this school is ruined too? I can hear Dillon in the shower and I beg him to hurry since I didn't get to shower yesterday.

Once i'm in the steamy water, I decide that I won't even bother trying to cover the scar.

I sit on the bus in black spandex and a pastel blue shirt that has the word 'rad' printed on it. I twiddle with my thumbs and our bus stops again at the last stop. A guy with long black hair and a striped cream and light blue shirt with a scarf got on the bus. He sat down next to me. I expected another silent bus ride, or maybe an insult about my eye to come, but none came. He turned toward me and smiled.

"I'm Destery."

"Nessy..." I mumble.

"What's wrong?'

I look him in the eye. He doesn't flinch at all.

"are you blind or something?"

"No..?"

"Oh.."

"Why do you ask?"

"My eye.."

"What? Oh, that? I didn't even notice that. Why does that make you think you're ugly? You're gorgeous"

My eyes widen.

I get to first hour, and enter the room, it almost seems like everything is going okay, then I get to my desk. Tears cloud my eyes, I drop my books and my hand finds its way to my mouth. The cold tears roll down my soft cheeks, smearing my makeup. My throat is practically a knot and my legs start to wobble. My stomach goes to war with my throat.

The kids that were at the party taped a wooden sign to my desk that read

Beware of DOG

Dog was written in blood.

I look at my wrist, and back at the sign, then my wrist, then the sign.

Dog is written in MY blood...
