At the sight of her cheery expression, Demetri winced and rolled his head heavenwards, sighing loudly.
"You went snooping through my office." He sounded mildly annoyed, Scarlett noted to herself, still grinning widely at him.
"Why yes, yes I did. I found some mighty interesting things, too." Not really. "In fact I was just about finished when you finally decided to come to. Now now, Mr. Alpha, hasn't anyone ever told you you're not meant to sleep on the job?"
Scarlett couldn't control the sweetly spoken words from flowing out of her mouth, especially not after seeing the pure irritation in the Alpha. She couldn't seem to stop herself from winding him up, baiting a reaction. He was taking being knocked out by a female stranger very well, considering. Too well even. It wasn't natural for an Alpha.
Maybe there was something wrong with him - it would certainly explain the terrible lack of patrolling and security and his apparent loss of self preservation. Yes, there was something wrong with him. Scarlett wondered if it was even worth pressing him for information. It would be hard to get any from him considering she herself wasn't even sure what questions she needed to ask. And to torture and maim someone who appeared to have a death wish like Alpha Demetri obviously seemed to, it was pointless.
You couldn't get anything out of them, and she was here on business - mostly. She was just having fun on the job. Her large smile twisted into something resembling a smirk as she took a step back from the Alpha, his pack's file marked red still in hand.
"You see Demetri, whilst this has been fun, I've just come to the realisation that you won't be any use to me. So this means you and me have a problem. I don't particularly want to kill you - no wait, that's a lie, you're very aggravating and a large part of me wants to gouge out your eyes. But I'd much rather just walk out of here without the hassle of killing all of your patrollers and enforcers because I ripped out your throat, so what d'ya say?" Scarlett held her arms out wide, a sharp glint in her eye and the folder clutched securely in her hand.
Demetri had been silent during her speech, his spine having straightened after first hearing her speak. An alertness was present in his dark eyes that hadn't been there upon waking. He eyed her wearily for a moment, his hands stiff in his lap. It wasn't until he saw the file in her hand that he truly reacted.
And react he did.
The Alpha roared ferociously, shooting up out of his armchair and lunged for her hand holding the folder, murder in his eyes. Scarlett, shocked but ready, simply stepped to the side and let the Alpha fall to the floor in a predatory crouch. Ha.
"Give me that." He growled lowly, the sound rumbling from his chest. His eyes illuminated a soft glow from behind, his Wolf shining through as his emotions raged in a tempest.
Scarlett rose her eyebrows slowly, her eyes slipping to the folder in her clutches. "Ah, ah, ah. That was quite a spectacle. Almost makes you wonder," she purred, her cheeks splitting with a grin that would rival the Cheshire Cat.
"What's so special about the file that got you so fiery all of a sudden, Demetri?" Scarlett asked, her gaze boring into his predatory stare.
"It's Alpha," he ground out between clenched teeth, his eyes routinely flicking between her face and the folder in her possession.
Scarlett had to admit to herself, she loved the position she was in then. Here she was, on her old territory, playing with the current Alpha who appeared desperate enough to get whatever she had in her hands, even enough to openly attack her after being so placid moments before.
