My head hurt so bad! Where was I? The air was damp and musty. I slowly opened my eyes. Black! I couldn't see a thing.
"Oh my God!! I'm blind!! I can't see!!" I screamed out.
I felt a warm hand gently toch my face.
"Shhh. Jayger it's alright. You're not blind, we seem to have fallen into an underground cave of some sort."
It was Noah. I could tell, even though there was concern in his voice, he was holding back a slight laugh.
I tried to sit up. My head spinned. Noah pulled me back down. I realized my head was resting in his lap.
"No lay still." He said. "You hurt your head when we fell. You have been out for a good ten minutes."
"Oh hell," I said, "this is just great. How are we gonna get out of this?"
"Well,"Noah said in his calm voice, "seeing as how we have no flash light nor candels, I think it best to waite till sun up so we can see our surroundings."
It crossed my mind that Gabe would come looking for me before sun up, but then I remembered, I had told him not to waite up for me because Noah and I would be late getting back from our star gazing.
"You mean spend the night in this hole? Oh hell to tha no!" I said.
"Jayger, please calm down. You are going to do yourself harm. You're already injured, no need in making it worse." Noah said soothingly. "Trust me, we're safe here. Nothing can get to us."
"Nothing but damn bugs and spiders and shit!" I said frustrated. "Noah I don't like bugs. If any damn bugs crawl on me, Ima bust up outta this bitch I'm just tellin ya!"
Noah laughed out loud. I had never heard him laugh like that before. I sure wish I could of seen it.
"Jayger only you could bring a ray of sunshine to such a dreary situation as this." He said, patting my arm.
I laid there for a couple of second and then it dawned on me, was Noah ok? Here I was just thinking of myself and I had never once asked him if he was hurt or not.
"Oh Noah, I'm sorry. Are you okay? Did you get hurt when we fell?" I asked.
"I kind of twisted my bum ankle slightly, but I actually fell on something rather soft." He said.
"Something soft? What's soft down here? Hell, all I feel is rock." I said.
"Well, I actually fell on you. My knee hit your head and that's what knocked you out I believe." He said. I could tell he was stifling another laugh.
"The hell you say." I said, "Yo big ass fell on my head and knocked me out? When we get back home I'm gonna hide yo walking stick and trip you up everytime you walk past me. Just waite and see."
Noah burst out with another huge laugh. I joined him. We might as well make the best of the situation. No telling how long we would be here.
After a little while, my back began to ake. I had to try and sit up.
"Careful now." Noah said gently helping me. "Not too fast."
I sat up beside him. Our backs were aginst a cool rock wall. I was gonna be alright.
"All good?" He asked.
"Yeah I'll live." I said.
I sat right next to Noah and realized something else. I still had on his trench coat and it was freezing cold in here. I didn't say a word, because I knew he wouldn't let me give him back his coat, but I took it off and covered us both up with it.
"No, Jayger, you keep it." He protested.
"Shut up and cover up." I said flatly.
He sighed, "You're something else."
We sat there and talked for awhile about several different topics. Out of all of Gabe's brothers I guess I was closest to Noah. We had alot in common as far as nature went. So, living in the Alaskan Bush, we had a lot to talk about.
He explained to me about the 'hole' we were in and how it had formed. And what the loud popping sounds were we had heard just before we fell.
It seems the sound was the thin layer of rock that covered the cave, breaking under our weight.
"Kinda like my skull broke under your weight huh?" I teased.
"I'm so sorry about that Jayger." He said pitifully, "You know I would never hurt you intentionally."
"I know you wouldn't Noah." I said laying my head over on his shoulder. "Cause you're scared of me."
Again he laughed loud.
We sat in silence for a few minutes. I was about to dose off when he spoke.
"You know something? I'm so glad you have joined our family. I know Bam doesn't care for the lifestyle Gabe has chosen, but I don't mind."
Boy could I tell him a thing or two about Bam Bam and how he really felt, but that's in another story.
"Well thank you Noah. I'm glad that I'm here too. You guys are the world to me." I confessed. "My family rejected me when I told them that I was gay. My step father kicked me out of our house and told me not to ever come back."
"Oh that's terrible." Noah said earnestly. "How absolutely horrible."
"It's okay," I said, "I got him back. I let everyone know what kind of person he really was."
"What did you do?" Noah asked.
