The Coffee Shop

Part 3

 A year has passed and I am excited to enter the university with the two of them but something happened.

It was the saddest thing that happened in my life.

Kris called me. “Kathleen, Tao and I decided that we should have a dinner together.”

“Where?” was the first thing I asked. I was so happy because this was not just the coffee shop.

We will go somewhere new, a place where no memories to remember. The three of us entered that restaurant.

As we finished eating, Kris and Tao were looking at each other like they want to say something.

“We have to tell you something” Tao said In a very Tense Voice.

“About what?” I asked Curiously.

  “Well uhm, Kris tell her” Tao said Nudging n Kris.Why can't they just say it?

In a serious voice Kris started talking.

“Our parents want us to go to the States”

“We agreed that after college, we will come back here”He was calm But there is pain in his Voice, Tao was just Silent there.

“We want you to be happy despite us leaving” Kris said and held My hand.

“Please don’t forget us, we will keep in touch” Tao said while Forcing a smile on His face.

With teary eyes I replied “Why? How can I…”

“We must go now, I’m tired” I said to them.

I can’t stop my tears from falling as we walk out of that place. Kris grabbed my hands and pulled me back as I was to ride a bus.

  “We can’t leave you like this. Don’t go if you’re still crying.”Kris said while Hugging me from the back.

  “You don’t know how hard it is seeing you like this. It is harder for our part” While saying that he was also teary-eyed.

  “We’ll drive you home. It’s dangerous for a girl like you to travel at this hour by yourself”

Tao sat with me at the backseat of the car. He hugged me as he was saying “Everything will be fine. We will come back.” I hug Him back.

Three days later was a difficult day for me.

  “Kathleen our flight will be at 1 pm, hope you can come at the airport” Kris said In the phone. Then when I ended It.

Tao also caled me.

  “Kathleen please come. We are expecting you there”

Two consecutive calls that made me cry that morning.

“Time can you stop moving please” I thought as I stare blankly at my watch.

I was at the airport’s entrance and I was hesitating to go inside and meet the two of them.

Someone’s hand wrapped around me.

“I know you would come!” says Tao smiling.

Kris was behind him holding all their things.

“Omo, Let me help you” I told Kris but Tao intervened saying

“He can do it, don’t mind him” smiling sarcastically.

It’s already 12 noon. One hour left. Kris, Tao and I were sitting quietly.

Tao started telling jokes. We laughed but I still can’t get contentment.It still feels empty.

Tao went to the comfort room when suddenly Kris started singing.

“Call me now call me later or call me whenever…”

I started smiling and I looked at him. He hugged me tightly.

“We told you you’re going to be okay”

Tao came back and started telling jokes again.

“Calling all passengers of flight 088…” echoed in my ears.

“Oh s*** please don’t tell me it’s time already” I murmured.

Kris looked at me and smiled. It was my first time to say that s word in front of him and I think he heard it. I was anxious and I don’t know what to do.

“I guess this is it. It’s time to say goodbye”

I embraced them both tightly. “Please do come back”

“We sure will” I feel so down, lifeless as I see them entering the gate.

“What are you doing here?” a guy’s voice asked me.
