The Coffee Shop

Part 2

Another confusing week has passed.

As I wait for Kris’s return, my friendship with Tao seems didn't change. Every time we talk, he still opens the topic of courting me which I divert by making jokes.

The most awaited day has come. Kris was back however it’s like he was changed or something. His face became so serious and he doesn't communicate with others that much.

“What’s this? Did Tao and Kris switched personalities?” I asked myself.

I tried to talk to him but I can’t. “I’ll wait for one more week.” I said. “Maybe that time, he will be normal.” So a week passed. “How was your trip to the U.S. Kris?” “Did anything happen?” “You seem so troubled since the day you came back”

This were the things I messaged him but I got no replies.

Our door bell rang. I heard a voice saying “Good evening Mrs.Chun is Kathleen there?” Footsteps hurried towards my room.

“Kathleen, Kris is looking for you. He is waiting outside” My mom told me with a smile.

So I went out. “Ya! Chingu! How are you? Why didn’t you message me back?” I talked to him like nothing happened. 

“I’m still fine you see.” He said having a smirk on his face. He hugged me saying “I missed you too. I’m sorry for not saying goodbye.” I was so speechless again and my eyes were teary.

“Let’s go to the coffee shop” He held my hand like never before.

“I will be honest with you now. We’ve been friends for more than two years already and I think I should tell you this.” “The reason I went to the U.S. was because I was looking for my family. Unfortunately, I didn't see them The persons whom I grew up with weren't my parents...”

I didn't know what to say. I just sat there quietly listening to his story. I want to tell him about Tao but decided not to.

 “Kathleen can we meet up today?” Tao asked me, I hesitated to because I was with Kris that time but I still replied back.

“Okay I will message you later.”  

” Tao, where are now? Let’s meet up already.” I said to Tao

 “Can you meet me at Wolf balcony?” “I’ll be waiting for you there.”

“I’m going now, see you there.” I said while walking. While walking up to where we would meet,

I heard some guys singing. It was Tao’s friends D.O. and Baekhyun singing open arms.

The place was full of flowers and a table for two. Suddenly someone held me from behind, covering my eyes. I knew it was Tao. 

“I’m glad you’re here” Getting something from his pocket, he told me

“I want to be your man, not only for now but forever” My heart stopped seeing a ring on his hand.

“Will you be my lady?” Tao asked me. I did not make a sound. I just stayed quiet as he place that ring to my fingers.

“Why don’t I stop him? Did I learn to like him that I’m letting him do it?” I asked in my mind. We sat and talked.

“I am happy you accepted me. Not only as your friend, but also your man” I just smiled and nodded. A name came across my mind, Kris.
