Dorian froze mid-step on his morning journey through the great hall leading to the library in the glass castle. He was taken aback by the beauty his eyes just came upon.Since the day, a month ago, Dorian found out about his strange surge of power, he has had a little trouble keeping calm. Though, the past couple of days, he'd gained a good level of control over his new found ability he once couldn't contain to save his life.
Now, it seemed, all the progress he made may as well have been for nothing. For it all crumbled when his irises took hold of the innocent face of someone he's never seen before.
When Dorian laid eyes on the prince, his skin began to heat up, the power in his veins doing nothing to cease the warmth that now spread over his cheeks, deepening with each passing second. The warmth spreading over his entire body with each step the prince took toward him.
He would have kept walking, for he had endured weeks of a grueling schedule and he really just needed a day. A day to forget all his problems and confide in the thousands of books his personal library offers him. He would have ignored any attempt for a stranger to try and garner a smile from him or beg for his attention, but he simply didn't want to now. He wanted someones attention.
"Prince Maven, Your Highness, may we have a word?" Dorian was pulled from his stupor when he noticed a guard halt in front of this intriguing stranger.
A prince?
There was another prince in the midst?
And Prince Maven Calore, at that.
Dorian could not help his smile. He began walking once again. Within a matter of seconds, the guard who once had The Prince with his hands folded behind his back leaning in to hear his whispers, bowed to Maven and walked back to their post on the balcony, resuming his duty.
Maven smiled brightly as the guard left and resumed on his walk. Dorian halted in front of the library's door and looked up, his heart quickening as the prince known as Maven met his eyes.
With his hand still on the door knob, Dorian continued to stand there, locking eyes with the prince. Maven smiled at him. And as if that wasn't enough, he kept smiling.
Dorian struggled to keep control, for every grin the prince passed at him, his ice threatened to expand. It would automatically chill the hall they stood in, now abnormally hot with Maven's entrance.
He gulped, trying desperately not to let his secret ability become known. He was the prince. The prince that had a duty and people he needed to protect. He was the prince whose father banned magic. If this got out.....it'd be the end of his rule. It would destroy his reputation and he'd never become King of Adarlan.
He continued to stare, gaining a grip on his self control with each step Maven continued to take toward him. He blinked and all of a sudden the silver prince was in front of him.
"The Crown Prince of Adarlan, Dorian Havilliard," Maven smiled as he looked at Dorian.
Dorian was brought out of his haze once again when he saw Maven bending down to bow. He did the same, for he was in the company of a crown prince as well. To his horror, as he did so, his head bumped with Maven's and he shot straight up.
"My apologies," he said rather frantically.
Maven came up slowly with a grin plastered to his gorgeous face.
"There are no worries, I assure you." Maven said as he held up a hand.
"I haven't meant to inconvenience you in any way." Dorian still practically begged, though all with the calm presence he was taught.
