Jay lied on the bed, the young woman beside him asleep. He looked up at the ceiling. "Did I really lose another one?" He thought. "Well, I'm going back to the maintenance tunnel tomorrow morning... alone, I'm not taking her with me."
"I can't believe she actually trusts me enough that she'll sleep next to me. I mean we're friends, but it just seems... right... I guess... I don't know how to describe it..."
"In the morning I'll think it over."He looked over at her sleeping figure as she turned, adjusting her posture subconsciously.
"We'll get through it." He thought looking back up. "When we do, we'll have a happier life, normal, a constant, strong career."
His mind raced as he began to drift...
He then fell asleep from overthinking.
