He still couldn't believe he was alive... He hadn't stopped thinking about why Yuma would forgive him for all the things he had done. Many people had said that someone like Ray Shadows could never be forgiven. Perhaps Yuma would never forgive him.
Those guilty feelings and dark thoughts were eating him alive... And yet, he knew that this was war. He had to get rid of Yuma no matter what... For Barian World... And for Yuma. He didn't want to hurt Yuma too much. If he was going to die, 'Ray' wanted him to die painlessly. Ray's pain increased when he saw his 'old friend' running towards his school. Just knowing that he was no longer welcome at that school... That he was no longer welcome in Yuma's life... It hurt too much...
Yuma's eyes full of joy shone brightly as he ran as fast as his legs could take him. "Gahhhh!!!!!! I'm late again!!!" He yelled as he made his way up the stairs. He remembered how Ray would always use shortcuts, which made him arrive later than ever. Ray... Shaking his head off the thought of the Barian, he dashed into class, obviously ready to receive detention as usual.
Yuma was always like that... He would always look at the bright side of things even when there was nothing bright to look at. Yuma always made people be their best version... Ray remembered how things were before he revealed his true identity. Many were the times he was about to tell him the web of lies he had said...
But Yuma would never forgive him... He wondered if there could have been a different way to do things... Yuma had brought light to Vector's dark, evil heart... Yuma had taught him what it was to be happy... Yuma was all he thought about... Why...?
Yuma took a seat as Mr Kay began to ramble away about some work or whatever. The red eyed boy's mind drifted off. He couldn't take his mind off the Barian. Ray had betrayed him -- that was the truth and he wasn't happy about it. As a matter of fact it hurt him greatly. Even after everything that had happened, he forgave him... He always forgave people...
To Yuma there was always a way out, even when it seemed impossible.
Thoughts swirled through Ray's head as he tried not to think about those bright, red eyes... Full of life and happiness... How he loved Yuma's voice, his energy... He only wanted Yuma to be happy. But how could he be happy at Vector's side? Vector was a monster. He had betrayed Yuma in the most despicable way possible. And even if Yuma had forgiven him, it didn't matter. How could someone ever trust a monster like him?
Carrot Top.... Yuma smiled softly at the thought of the nickname. He sighed sadly. He missed him... All he had ever wanted was to be his friend... Maybe even more... He stood up and excused himself from the class. He needed some air.
Ray was too worried about Yuma. When... When had it happened? And how? Why had he become so close to him? He was supposed to lie to him. And kill him at the first opportunity. But he had gotten to truly care about him... And he had decided to betray him just when he knew forbidden feelings had started to grow in his heart... He was worried. There were still more Vector clones out there. Clones who had already tried to kill Vector himself.
Those clones had become far too intelligent and self-aware. They would try to hurt Yuma at any moment... And though it hurt, Ray preferred to kill Yuma himself rather than see him die at the hands of someone else...
Sneaking out of school, the ruby-eyes boy walked towards his secret spot. He needed to think. Ray had tried to kill him. But Yuma loved him. It was friendship that had grown into love. A love that he had never embraced. Tears fell out of his eyes. <<It's not fair... Why...?>> Why couldn't he love him? <<Why does he want to kill me...? Why does he hate me so much...?>>
Ray loved him. Yes. He loved him. He didn't know how it had happened, but it had. Ray was in love with Yuma and his feelings for him were stronger than anyone could ever imagine... He looked up at the school building. The sun was already setting... How much time had he been there? Yuma was standing on the roof of the building, his shadow contrasting the sky. He looked so calm and peaceful... But that perfect moment had to end, and it ended when Ray saw a shadow... A cloaked figure. And just as he had feared, that shadow was getting closer and closer to the one person he loved more than anything...
Yuma's eyes continued to flood; tears of sadness. "I love him..." He murmured softly to himself. He heard footsteps and looked up, hoping it wasn't teacher. Sadly it wasn't. The cloak... <<Oh no...>> He backed away as another clone moved in.
Ray froze as he saw the clones corner Yuma. One of them immobilized Yuma with Barian magic as the other one smirked, taunting him. He surely thought one of them was the real Vector, as Ray saw him struggle and yell at the clones. No... He wasn't going to let anyone hurt him... His heart started beating faster and faster as the clones toyed with Yuma and walked in circles around him. He was not going to lose Yuma... Not to them... Before he knew it, Ray was already running at an inhuman speed towards the building. He didn't care if anyone saw him. As he neared the building, he leapt in the air as black wings tore his clothes and he transformed into his Barian form.
<<Yuma...>> They were going to finish him off... Yuma was already on the ground, and he was so weak now... Almost unconscious. Vector was flying at an unbelievable speed. And yet, it didn't seem like he would make it on time. But that didn't stop him for saving his beloved... The last thing Yuma was able to see before falling completely unconscious was Vector's black wings as he blocked the clones' attack....
