I sat in my English class staring out the window daydreaming, not paying attention, like all ways my mind going to Damien he won't freaking leave my head now! The stupid male. It didn't help that my mind kept going back to the dream, it felt so real the feelings and everything. 'Dear god why can't this class go any quicker? Why won't that dream leave my head?' I thought to my self before my head dropped banging it against the table.
"Abigail!" My teacher, Mrs. Brown, exclaimed turning around from the board which she was writing about literary elements or some sort of crap. She was my English teacher for my freshman year of high school as well ever since then she has hated me even though I wasn't one of the worst students... well okay I did cause some trouble beating up a few humans, but they are still alive just little terrified of me.
Just as Mrs.Brown opened her mouth to tell me off the door opened and in walked Damien with a note from the front office. "I'm sorry to interrupt, but we need Abigail Wahya," came his smooth voice causing my heart to race. 'crap I'm in trouble.'
Mrs.Brown turned to me and gave me a wicked smile, "Go, I was about to send you anyways."
Walking through the hallways following Damien who walked right to the door leading out to the woods next to the school, "Hey where are you going? Don't we need to get to the office?"
"Nope I just used that as an excuse, because we've had some intruders earlier and need to see if they are still here or not." he replied turning to face me after stepping out the door.
"Shouldn't we get at least a few more people? Just because I can beat you doesn't mean that we can take on a group of wolves alone." I began to fret thinking he was crazy. I know I'm the alpha now and I could order him to not go but then that would look bad on me since I need to investigate but I know I shouldn't go out there alone with only one other wolf.
"We already have a few people just into the woods where we normally meet now stop worrying I'm your Beta I'm supposed to help not lead you into a trap." he exclaimed voice raising a little.
"Oh"
"Yes now lets go we can't waste any more time."
We entered the clearing I spotted the deltas of each segment of our pack except for the den mothers and their best member standing in a circle, all watching as Damien and I walked in to sight. Damien left me to go and stand by the person he chose so all together there were at least ten of us going on this expeditions.
I turned to the delta of the Trackers, "Where did you first catch scent of the intruders?" I really had no idea what had to be done as an alpha but going on instincts should help me, like all the other times I havd had no idea what to do.
"By our northern borders, Alpha." Sequi, The Trackers delta, responded, "That is where we should start and follow the scent."
"Thank you Sequi, I want The Trackers to lead Warriors stay near the front but do not inter fear with the trackers work, I want spies to spread out along with assassins and I want defenders to take up the rear." I commanded watching as everyone shifted and did as I said.
Damien walked up before I could shift and join my pack members. "You are doing good so far... How did you come up with that formation? No one has ever thought of it." He said giving me a small smile.
I gave him a nod before shifting then responded as I ran to catch up with the group. 'Simple the trackers ought to lead being that they are the best at what they do, spies are good at staying hidden and under cover as well as the assassins so therefore they can spread out and move silently and prepare for any ambushes, defenders stay towards the back because our backs will be turned and there for we will not be paying attention so they should pay attention to what is behind us and help defend us. and the warriors are towards the front in case we need to run a head for battle.' I explained.
'Now I feel stupid,' he sighed.
We had been following the scent trail, the intruders seemed to stay towards the outer part of our territory not posing much of a threat at the moment. 'Alpha the trail ends here,' Sequi said walking up to a river that posed as one of our borders.
'Okay,' I muttered thinking, 'I want you to select some of the trackers, include the apprentices, to have night watches and patrol the borders make sure you have enough to switch out shifts. I want you all to pay close to any unfamiliar scents and report to me all that happens. Other than that you are all dismissed'
'Yes Alpha" the wolves had all said tbefore going to do their own thing.
'Abbie, do we have to go back to school? we already missed most of the day,' Damien whinned nudging me in the side with the look of a begging puppy in his eyes.
I sat down sighing 'I guess, what would will we do? Isn't there paper work or something I have to do?'
'YES!' he cheered leaping around. 'No, you can take care of that later. Lets go swimming! Remember where we used to all ways swim when we were little?'
"Yeah, how could I forget. You know what I'll race you there,' I said a smirk upon my face before taking off towards the ditch.
The ditch was a place where all the pups played during the summer, and at times in winter when the water freezes and you can skate on the ice. According to the name the ditch sounds like one of the nastiest places ever, but truely its one of the prettiest places upon this packs territory.
'You little peice of turd!' he shouted as he took off after me, but it was too late I was already half way to the ditch.
