Chapter One

Newtpaw lifted her head with ease hearing the groans of Hailpaw, her annoying denmate. Newtpaw growled softly, "Oh Hailpaw!" she had yelled into the toms ear, watching him scramble to his paws only to fall over onto his side. Newtpaw laughed mischievously, "Your welcome. If I didn't wake you I'm sure Bearstep wouldn't have the patience to wake you for training."

Newtpaw noticed a small layer of blush on the toms muzzle, Hailpaw felt his ears grow hot. Newtpaw growled harshly once again. "Well! You better go eat before you won't be able to!" She spat. Newtpaw watched as the tom shuffled his paws an padded past her. She herd him mumble, "Thanks.."

Newtpaw rolled her eyes, her ears flickered gently hearing her named being called. "Huh?" She stepped out of the apprentice den. She saw Wishpool outside, "Newtpaw, I'm sorry but we can't train today. I don't feel to good." Newtpaw let out a groan of disappointment, "You said that yesterday! Why can't Sharkstar assign me an new mentor." Wishpool flinched, her face had a sadden look on it, "Newtpaw I promise I'll take you out, just not today."

Newtpaw sighed an shrugged, "whatever." She looked over to see Bearstep with Hailpaw seeing that he was scolding him once again. Newtpaw sat up an walked over, "Why are you scolding him now." She snapped at Bearstep. Hailpaw flinched harshly, you could tell he didn't want the two to go at it, but he knew if he stepped in, it would just get worse.

The two bickered back and forth for what seemed to be until sunhigh. Before Bearstep had stormed off, muttering curses under his breath. Newtpaw stands triumphantly next to Hailpaw who stood there, his jaw opened in shock. "There goes my chance at training!" He yelped. Newtpaw looked at him rolling his eyes, "Hey you wanna leave camp.. an go look for them." Hailpaw stood there, "Them? Who? Who's them?" He had his head cocked.

Newtpaw growled, "I'll tell you if you come with.. it's not like our mentors will be looking for us anytime soon." She tried to convince him." Soon Hailpaw curiosity gotten the best of him, "Alright.. Only for a little tho!" he mewled silently. Newtpaw smiled, she raised her head above him looking around seeing no one was around, but a few scattered cats. She dashed for camp entrance, sliding out of camp.

Hailpaw came walking out, slithering himself out of camp. The two looked at each other smiling. "Step one complete." Hailpaw whispered quietly, then seeing Newtpaw started walking he scrambled to his paws chasing after her. Newtpaw slowed down for Hailpaw to catch up, Hailpaw looked up, "Who are we going to find now..?" Newtpaw looked back at him grinning softly, "You'll see."
