"You're still wearing that stupid pilot gear? You're hopeless," said everyone in his school. "Darling, you...you need to take off these things. I know you loved your grandfather very much but it's time to let these things go.." His mother said. "Show some initiative, son! You could even be a lawyer like me." His father said with pride.

All his life, Max was criticized. He didn't know where he was now. Some sort of clearing..? Whatever it was, the green was back behind him and it was starting to turn to different types of grey, getting stronger the further he went down. What was this place? A new adventurer's instinct? Maybe. Before he could thing anymore, a sharp pain of thousands of jagged teeth bit into his neck. A red creature with three eyes in the shape of a triangle—it was draining his hair color and weakening him. Then there was a splat and a red ink went everywhere. His color returned. "Stupid things..they always get in the way..."

Max fixed his goggles and looked up at the second voice his eyes widened looking at the girl, now she looked like a real hero right out of a comic book! Yeah he knew he was still a big kid inside but it was true! She was. Beautiful! He's thoughts continued on before he realized he was staring right at her. She raised an eyebrow at him for a moment then turned away, walking out of the clearing. "Watch your back, buddy! Those things are all over the place."

"W-wait! What?" He said shaking his head and getting up to follow her he wanted to know so much more! "What was that.. Thing..?"

"A Hix. Disgusting..color robbing creatures..."

"Is.. Is that why this place is so bland?"

"Mhm."

"Wow.. Wait. Is this like magic??" He asked looking so much more excited now he always wanted to be able to fly the feeling of wind through his hair and the and the smell of the boundless sky... He shook his head to block out the daydream.

"If magic is meant to deprive people, then yes. It's magic." She huffed, going into a store. He followed her looking around now he wish he would have grabbed his guns before leaving home. What a idiot! Well this girl looks like she could kick his ass so he guessed that's good enough. Wait what even is her name. " wait.. What even is your name?" He asked just as he though.

"That's for me to know, and you to not. Okay?" She said coldly, walking up to the counter.

"wow cold much I think all the blandness is effecting you." He said without though but regretted it immediately! First day on the run and he's probably gonna die.

"I tried to save you, buddy. Don't make me regret it." She huffed, looking up at him. Her soulless, unshining eyes met his. He looked into hers and instead of being scared he of them he almost felt sorry he knew something Happened to her and he wanted to help.. His muscles loosed as he said nothing standing there in silence. She turned back to the counter and talked to the elderly man behind it, shop owner Goollee Smoe. What looked like His little granddaughter ran to the girl and hugged her leg. He looked over at then slightly confused but happy she wouldn't kill him.

"So are you guys like family?" He asked slightly nervous.

"I wish!" The little girl looked up at him happily for a moment then her smile faded. "The color went away again.."

He looked at the girls "you mean the monsters came back?" He said wanting to know more but not sure what to call them.

"No..color is a rarity here. We can see unidentified color for a few seconds before it vanishes." Xael said, picking up the six year old. He looked down at his hand he looked like someone wasn't supposed to be there.. He looked back at the girls. He wanted to help them get the colour back. "Do you guys have any firearms?"
