"Rio. What kind of name is that?!" Rio thinks out of hate.
At 5' 10", 150 pounds of pure muscle, with brown loosely curled hair, jade green eyes, and a perfect smile it is clear why Rio is so popular. But he never wanted to be popular. He has always wanted to be the outcast so that he could find true love and not just people trying to date him for his popularity. He is the kind of kid who could get any girl he wants but he hasn't dated even one.
"Hey, you're cute..." says every girl he has ever passed in the halls.
Rio is now 17, has a nice car because his parents are rich. However, he still tries to keep his character in check. This has also caused a lot of the girls in the school to fan girl over him.
He sits down in his first period class when he notices this short girl maybe 4' 11", dressed in all black, looking depressed sit down in the back of the room. He decides to go sit with her so he leaves his popular friends to go sit with her.
"Hey," Rio says.
"Hi," the girl responds.
"What's your name mine is Rio?" Rio asks.
"I'm Aaliyah," Aaliyah says but seems to pull away from his friendliness.
"Hey Aaliyah, what are you doing later?" Rio inquires.
"Nothing your popular ass would be interested in," Aaliyah states.
"Try me," Rio demands.
"Ok, meet me at the park today," Aaliyah says excitedly.

Later that day when Rio gets in his car to go to the park he notices that Aaliyah is walking there. So he pulls up beside her and invites her in. She hesitates before accepting the invitation, then they drive to the park in silence. When they get there, Aaliyah hurriedly hops out.
"You don't trust me do you?" Rio inquires.
"No," Aaliyah responds, "Don't take it personally. I don't trust many people."
Rio asks, "Why not?"
"Because in the past they have only ever brought me harm. Especially the popular ones like you," Aaliyah claims.
"Well please don't stereo-type me because of what people like me have done," Rio begs.
"Fine," Aaliyah scoffs.
"Why are you smiling?" Rio asks.
"I'm not telling," Aaliyah responds, flashing her million dollar smile. But Rio could feel that it was fake.
So, the two have a generally nice conversation by the car, but Rio feels as though she is hiding something, and won't tell him. So, he does something he would come to decide was the right choice he follows her home. He notices two things that stuck out for a girl, who acts so well, she was definitely hiding something. When he arrives to her house he hears all of the yelling. So, he came to the conclusion that her parents were abusive. So, Rio goes home with these things on his mind.

Aaliyah thought to herself on the walk home, man, this boy is cute, he seems to have a kind character, unlike everyone else. Aaliyah stared into the busted up mirror, dusty and misguiding, in her bedroom and fought with her inner self. Arguing that she was ugly, worthless, a waste of space, unwanted, unwelcome, and the list going on and on. So she reached in her drawer for the blood-stained razor.
"NO!" She screamed and chucked the razor out the window as far away as possible. "I'm better than this. I'm better than what I've been treating myself," she argued with her conscience.
"No, you aren't, and you know you are lower than what you hold yourself to be," Her mind howled back at her.
"No, I won't listen to you, not this time!" She screamed before rushing off to bed.
Aaliyah lay there staring at the ceiling, crying for she knew that although she was able to beat her demons tonight, they would come again in the morning. She fell asleep with tears streaming down her face...
