_____
Noah
Noah looked over at Sam. He hadn't said anything and Noah wondered if he was actually looking forward to demon hunting. He was absentmindedly running his finger over the hilt of one of the knifes.
"What?" Sam said, his eyebrows raised. Noah looked away. "Nothing," he said. They walked in silence for a while. Finally Sam wrinkled his nose. "Demon."
It had a certain smell, as if something was rotting. Noah shivered despite the summer heat. They heard someone scream. Noah furrowed his eyebrows. Any demon that could hurt someone was too dangerous for their first day.
Noah smiled at Sam. "Oh my gosh Noah you can't go," Sam said. "Come on," Noah said, smiling an elfish grin.
Sam shook his head. "We should at least report it to the Elders," he mumbled. Noah saw the wind blowing through his friends curly brown hair. It was a lot like Noah's, but a different color. He had a chiseled jaw, set into a grin at his friends determination.
His amber eyes glowed like burning embers. He was quite attractive but Noah was pretty sure he didn't know it.
"Nah," Noah said. He started running towards the stench of demon. Sam followed, easily keeping up with Noah's short strides.
They approached an alley. At the very end laid a girl. She was clutching her arm and moaning. Standing above her was a demon neither Noah nor Sam could identify. It had long tentacles, one of which was wrapped around the girls arm.
It was singing to her. Slowly, the demon turned to face them. "Do you like my Rhapsody?" It asked them.
"Not at all," Sam said, grinning. The demon turned to look at him.
"Oh your a pretty one," it said. He looked over Noah. "And so are you."
Noah gaped at him. He never thought himself pretty. He shook his head. Best not to listen to demons. Then, the demon started singing. It was soft at first but got harsher as he sang. He slithered towards them, taking his tentacle off of the girl.
As soon as he let go, Sam took one of his knifes out of his belt. Sam was really bad at throwing knifes. "No Sam!"
The demon smiled as the knife flew. Sam was clearly aiming at the demons neck, the way to kill most demons. The knife stopped in the air and pointed at his right foot. "What?" Noah heard Sam say.
The knife plunged into the demons foot. It roared, then disintegrated. Noah looked at Sam sideways. Sam didn't seem fazed by his miracle knife. He ran to the girl, lifting her in his arms.
Noah often forgot how strong he was. He picked up the knife and put it in his belt for further examination. Or if Sam needed it back.
They headed back to Rime.
