Sam
Sam left the room. He didn't really like the hospital wing and there was no need to stay. He looked outside and saw the noonday sun, glaring off the path to the cave.
He was only half vampire so he could go out in the sun and eat normal things. He still needed blood, unfortunately. A girl walked down the hallway. "Hey Sam," she said. She was Noah's younger sister, Mara.
She was also half elf. She was tall and moved silently. She didn't have ears like Noah's, which were long and pointed at the top though.
"Hi Mara," he said. She looked distracted. "Where's Noah?"
Sam pointed to the hospital wing. Mara frowned. "Thanks," she said and hurried down the hall. Sam kept walking, ending up outside where he found Noah's father. He was tending to the garden. Sam stepped out into the sun, the dull heat burning his skin slightly.
He walked around Noah's father, making sure to make no sound. He passed behind him and into another, smaller cave behind Rime. It was hidden by vines and Sam was pretty sure none of the Demon Hunters knew about it.
He brushed the vines away from the opening with a flick of his wrist, showing a large opening. Inside laid a man. Or rather, a vampire. He wore a long, pressed suit. His skin was pale and you could see his veins.
"Father?" Sam asked.
Noah
Mara ran into the room. "Who's this?" Noah heard Nat say. Noah didn't answer though. Mara had weapons tucked into her belt; a long hunting knife and a pistol. She rarely carried around weapons. She rarely came into Rime either.
She lived in London. He hadn't seen her in nearly two years. "Is everything okay?" Noah asked, tilting his head. "No," she said. She then seemed to notice Nat sitting up on the bed. "And who is this lady?"
Nat smiled. "I'm Nat," she said, inclining her head. Mara looked at Noah. "Slayer?" she asked. Noah shook his head. "Wait... Slayer?" Nat asked. "Are you guys like, assassins? That explains the vampire."
Mara's face turned white. "She's normal. A mundane. Isn't she?" Noah nodded. "Oh no. No, this isn't good. What's she doing here? Where's Charlie?" Noah had never seen her get worried. She always had a sort of calm way of handling things.
"Uh, in the weapons room I think," he said. He remembered her saying something about going down there. He couldn't quite remember though. She hurried out of the room, leaving Noah with Nat. He stood there awkwardly, while Nat looked at him.
"What are you?" she finally asked. "Why did she have so many weapons? What makes me different from you?"
Noah shook his head. "I would tell you, but I'm sure you don't want to get involved in this." He stood there for a moment longer. Then he turned and headed towards the door running into Sam. Sam yanked on Noah's shirt, pulling him into the hallway.
"How much does she know?" he said, his voice holding barely contained fury. "Well, she thinks were assassins," Noah said. Sam let go of Noah's shirt. He put his head in his hands. "We should have never taken her here," he said.
Noah looked back at her. "She was hurt, might have died even. May I ask where you went, Samuel?" Sam grimaced. "No," he said, "you can't." He spun on his heel, marching down the hallway.
Nat laughed softly behind her. "Drama queen," she said. "Or rather, drama vampire."
