sitting in a mountain of pillows on her windowsill listening to the thunder and patter of the rain outside, mina thought.

why did things have to turn out this way? music is my most favorite thing on this entire earth, what am i going to do from now on? i always listen to my music loudly in my earphones to block out the constant noise of other humans and life.

a light knock was placed on the door taking mina out of her thoughts.

"yah, min. i need you to run to the store and get some things for dinner. i can't go because i'm busy with work right now... could you please go?" ki bum, mina's older brother asked.

"but it's pouring¿ what if i get sick?"

"you'll be okay. it's supposed to stop in a few minutes anyway. hurry and go before it's past dinner time."

"aish. alright." mina closed her book and climbed out from the pile of pillows she was laying in.

ki bum walked down the hallway back to his office but before he stepped into his office he turned back around.

"oh, i'll give you a list in a moment too." he smiled softly and walked back to his working area.

'okie dokie then' mina mumbled.

myoui ki bum is a very gentle person. but he can also be very assertive or intimidating. he is the typical over protective brother that most little sisters can't stand, but the typical protective brother that not many little sisters have. he's tall, muscular, handsome, and smart. deadly recipe.

ki bum has always watched out for his little sister mina whether it was making sure nobody picked on her at the playground, or took her lunch money, or bullied her, or broke her heart. he did very well for the most part.

but he couldn't protect her from genetic illnesses.

mina picked her white converse up from her closet floor and shook them on her small feet.

"alright here's the list. don't forget anything and be safe. here's some money spend it well." ki bum walked up to mina as she exited her room.

mina took the list and money, then looked over the list.
-cabbage
-rice
-ramen packages
-eggs
-pork

pretty simple. "alright i'll be careful. see ya."

"yah! and don't go hanging around with any boys missy." ki bum remarked jokingly.

"yeah yeah." mina grabbed her phone, house keys, wallet, jacket, and umbrella and headed out the door. she took her bike out from the shed and made her way to town.

fortunately, the rain had stopped just in time for her to go outside.

lucky enough for mina, her hearing problem isn't as bad as some have, but it is still burdensome. some people are sensitive to sounds such as running faucet water, walking on hard floors, stepping on leaves, or even shuffling papers. only she is sensitive to loud sounds like sirens on a police car, thunder, loud knocks, raised voices, honking from cars, and even music from earbuds, which is the worst.

mina's life revolves around music. when she's dancing for ballet, her heart beats to the melody of the song. even when she's just sitting in her room listening, the song that's playing through the earphones is her life support. many people can relate, so you know how she must feel.
