Amelia looked at the girl in disbelief before looking back at the man, only this time, the man wasn't a man. The thing in front of her had long, jagged, yellow teeth with transparent, grey skin.
It's dark-violet feline eyes glared into Amelia's. She gasped, jumped back, and ran over to the girl.
"Stay behind me!" The girl ordered as she pushed Amelia back. The demon sitting on the couch began to laugh manically and slowly cracked his neck from side to side before rising up to face them. "Mackenzie West, why do you always have to ruin my fun? Huh?!" It's voice was harsh and sent shivers down Amelia's spine. It sounded high-pitched, then changing to also sound low and foul. It walked towards Amelia and Mackenzie as it roared, "This lovely little mouse was mine, and I caught her fair and square!! So kindly show your self to the door, you low down, dirty, vile little son of a bi-"

Mackenzie had taken a sword out and pierced the demon's side near his ribs. Black blood began to pour out from the gash. The demon looked down at its wound, then smiled wickedly up at Mackenzie. It pointed a sharp, long claw up and wiggled it slowly, "no no! There will be none of that! Not today!" It picked up Mackenzie and threw her towards the living room. She hit the wall with a grunt and left a large hole. The thing walked slowly over to Mackenzie and picked her up by the hair, "looks like this just isn't your day, West!" It said as it leaned its head back and opened its mouth. A bunch of thin, black tentacles started pouring out of its mouth as it made a disgusting gurgling sound.

Acting swiftly, Amelia ran into the kitchen and grabbed the biggest knife she could find. She ran back into the living room, jumped onto the monster, and began to stab its open mouth. Black blood splattered all over her but she knew she couldn't stop; she stabbed it's stomach and heart. While she was doing this, the demon was thrashing underneath her, until it finally stopped. Mackenzie got up and watched Amelia continue to stab the demon. Mackenzie fixed her torn red shirt before softly saying, "you know it's dead, right?"

"Oh... I guess you're right," Amelia said as she looked back at the dead demon, astonished that she had actually stabbed the beast multiple times. She looked back up at Mackenzie and started to pester her with questions, "who are you? What are you? What just happened? Why was that demon here? Are demons even real?"

Mackenzie ran her fingers through her blonde hair before speaking, "my name is Mackenzie, and I'm a huntress. I'm part of a group that protects this world from the evils of the world, and this world just isn't the same any more. Did you feel that earthquake and hear the storm?" Amelia nodded. "Well, it wasn't just a weather problem. What actually happened was that demons came crawling up from hell and angels fell from the sky, making this city their battlefield. As we speak, people are being evacuated to a safer town."

Amelia just stared dumbfounded at Mackenzie while trying to absorb the situation that was before her. She just couldn't believe it; something that would only happen in movies is happening here and now. Suddenly fear dripped into her body when she thought of what would've happened to her had Mackenzie not been there.

"You okay there, hun? You're looking a bit pale and nauseous. Maybe you need a drink." Mackenzie said as she went over to pick Amelia off the floor and brought her into the kitchen to get her a glass of water. As Amelia took small drinks of the water, she thought of her mother. "Hey Mackenzie, do you know if a woman named Kathy Saturn was taken to the other town everyone is going to?" Amelia asked. Mackenzie looked at her and shook her head, "I wouldn't know. I'm only part of the team that goes door to door to get more people to evacuate, I'm afraid. Never mind that, though; you need to pack some things to take with you. I'll be your escort for the moment; once you're safe with the others, I'll leave to find more people."

Amelia nodded and went upstairs. She got a suitcase from inside her closet and began to run around the house in order to pack the essentials, such as her clothes(which were mostly black and gray), a couple fruit cans, a knife her dad bought her, a water bottle, and a few small other things. As she was packing, she stumbled across a picture of her and her parents at the beach. She closed her eyes as she remembered the last vacation she had with her parents; it was something she would never forget. It was the first time she had been to a beach, and her mom and dad made sure it was the best time for her. Amelia sighed and opened her eyes to look at the picture once more before tucking it into her suitcase. When she was done packing, she saw that Mackenzie was waiting on her by the door downstairs. Mackenzie smiled softly at Amelia and said, "alright, let's head out."

As they were walking, Amelia finally saw what the neighborhood looked like; there was so much destruction that Mackenzie had to help Amelia through the rubble that cluttered the street. Signs, trees, power lines, parts of houses, and chunks of road were scattered everywhere. Amelia looked around and saw that people where being escorted out of their crumbling houses; some by kids she saw around school, and others by people she had never seen in town before.

Amelia and Mackenzie walked down the street and got to the end where a cluster of people were meeting. Amelia started to get nervous and her hands begin to sweat as more people started to surround her. She looked anxiously at Mackenzie and weakly asked, "w-why is everyone h-here?"

Mackenzie looked wistfully at Amelia before grabbing her hand and stroking the back of it with her thumb, then calmed her by saying "hey, don't worry, I know you're scared but everyone here is just signing a paper so we know how many people from this town are being evacuated. In this way, everyone can be counted for." Amelia took deep breaths, then realized Mackenzie was still holding her hand--she blushed and looked down, but didn't let go. Somehow, it felt comforting.

They finally got to the front and Amelia signed her name on the paper--she was the 1,246th person to sign in. She thought that there had to be more people than that; the city was populated much more than that meager number. Amelia digressed, and walked with the other refugees. While she was trekking along, Mackenzie said her good-byes and went to the side to talk to a man. Amelia felt anxiety once again as she followed the sea of people. They were all being loaded onto trucks to take them to another town. As Amelia was about to be loaded onto a truck, she heard Mackenzie yelling. She turned around and Mackenzie grabbed her arm. Mackenzie yanked her to the side and told Amelia that she wanted Amelia to meet someone, and dragged her over to the man.

The man had dark brown hair that spiked up with hazel eyes and tan skin. His body was muscular and his veins stood out from his forearms. He stuck out his hand. Amelia took it and the man introduced himself, "hello, my name is Edmund Thompson, I'm the leader of Mackenzie's group. I heard you killed a demon and saved our Kenzie's ass; not many people can do that. It takes a lot of courage to even fight a demon. What's your name, and how'd you do it?" Amelia blushed and shyly said, "I'm Amelia Saturn, and I just stabbed it. I've watched a lot of movies and read a lot of comics, so, I don't know, I guess I just did what anyone would do in that situation." Edmund smirked, looked at Mackenzie, and nodded. Mackenzie looked at Amelia and smiled as she said, "alright Saturn, congratulations! You're now part of Edmund's group. You're a huntress."
