Papyrus doesn't waste a second and sprints towards Sans as fast as he can. He catches his brother before he even hits the ground. Papyrus' hands tremble and he begins to hyperventilate. He can barely control his breathing as all his focus is on Sans. He can't believe the sight in front of him. His brother is lying in his arms, with his soul slowly falling apart, and his own bone right in his chest. The bone is covered in the red substance, making it look like blood. He almost drops Sans because he's shaking so much. He falls to his knees and holds Sans' head and legs in his arms. His brothers eyes are barely open and the substance drips down his mouth. All of a sudden, a sound way too familiar to everyone in the room rings throughout the corridor. His soul is cracked down the middle, on the brink of shattering into pieces. Papyrus slams his fist onto the soul and summons as much healing magic as he can. He's using it so strongly and quickly, it's straining his own soul, but he doesn't care.
"No...! I'm not loosing you!" He shouts, tears forming in his eyes. Sans looks up at him, which is near impossible for him. He feels... Strange. It wasn't like when Temmie was attacking him. He feels numb all over and everything is turning white. All of his health is gone. Papyrus is delaying the inevitable. He knows there's no going back now. All of his health is gone. But Papyrus is just keeping his broken soul together. He can't heal him. It's over. He weakly lifts his hand and it falls heavily on his brothers arm. All his energy is gone but he has to talk to Paps.
"S... Sto... P..." He murmurs. Papyrus pants desperately, still holding his soul. He brings him to his chest and sobs into his shoulder, letting everything out.
"I'm a murderer... I'm a murderer...! I'm so sorry Sans..." Sans wants to hug him back, but he just can't. It was as if he was moving in extreme slow motion. He thinks he could evaporate in any moment. But he was being held together by Papyrus' magic. At the rate he's using it, he'll run out very quickly. As soon as it wears off... He'll be gone. He wants to lay there and stare at the ceiling forever. But he feels a strong urge to speak. He has to be for his brother. No matter what. He grips his arm as tightly as he can which isn't very tight at all. But Papyrus looks down at him in response.
"N-no... You... You saved me... Paps..." He says smiling. He coughs loudly and the substance spews all over his shirt. He breaths in raspily, struggling to take a full gasp of air. Time is definitely running out for him. Talking is straining his already broken voice. Papyrus has never felt more guilty. How couldn't he notice his bandana was covered in snow not dust! But now, there will be dust. He chuckles sadly and wipes his eyes.
"Heh... You're always so forgiving... I don't deserve it bro... I called you a wimp right to your face! There's no excuse..." He says disappointed in himself. Sans shakes his head.
"No one deserves to be given up on Pap. Especially you." He says as he looks down at his chest. He then realizes how much pain he's in. The bone broke through his ribs and back. All his other bones are broken due to the sudden impact. Papyrus had full intentions to take out Temmie, who is staring at the brothers disappointedly. She wanted her subject to do the work for her. He really is useless. She decides to let them have their moment. It was hilarious to watch. Papyrus acting like he'll never see his precious little brother again. Everything is an act now. Because Temmie never stops until she's satisfied. I guess she has to turn this run into a Genocide one. Boooring. But she can't leave Papyrus hanging. After all, she has all the time in the world to get anything she wants. Sans will kill someone. SOMETHING. And it'll be he and her. Forever and ever. She taps her foot loudly, causing Papyrus to turn around and glare. His eye, that is already lit up, seems to light up brighter with more magic emitting from him. He's boiling with anger. Sans grips his arm tighter, and whimpers worriedly. Papyrus looks back at him in worry. "Don't... She'll... She'll kill you... Please, run... I don't... I don't..." He says as he slowly trails off. His jaw is weak. He no longer has the energy to talk. Papyrus shakes him slightly, obviously wanting him to talk more. But it's too much for him. The magic is only keeping him conscious at this point. Papyrus whispers under his breath,
"Sans..." Sans blinks slowly and looks up at his brother. His nods, letting more of the substance drip down his mouth. Living is more painful than death. Papyrus takes a deep breath. He hesitantly lets his magic fade away. There is still magic left, nagging at him to keep going. But his brother deserves relief. He deserves everything at this point. He removes his hand from Sans' soul. It's free, about the shatter. It starts from his feet. His body begins to evaporate into tiny specks of dust, slowly floating throughout the room. It's slower than he expected. It soon moves up to his abdomen, relieving the pain from the bone. It doesn't hurt at all actually. He doesn't feel anything at all. He smiles at Papyrus lovingly as he stares in horror. He closes his eyes and everything fades to white. His broken soul floats in the air. It finally breaks, scattering and disappearing, never to be seen again. All that's left, is his dust all over Papyrus' knees. He scoops it up and holds it close to him, sobbing uncontrollably. This was worse than any other run. He's never had Sans die in front of him. He reaches into his hoodie pocket and pulls out Sans' signature bandana. He pulls it into his chest and hugs it tighter than ever, sobbing more. He stops abruptly when he hears Temmie crack her knuckles.
"AhHh, noAW thATE hes takeN care uf..." She cackles. Papyrus turns quickly and furiously. Sans' last words echo in his head.
Don't... She'll... She'll kill you... Please, run... I don't... I don't...
He takes a deep breath and thinks hard. But he's made up his mind a long time ago. He unites the knot in the back of the bandana and wraps it around his neck. He ties it harshly and stares at the ceiling.
"I'm sorry Sans..." He musters. Temmie stares at him surprised. She grins to the side.
"Kn0T LIstenin 2 ur oWN brothR agAIN hUh?" She mocks. Papyrus doesn't react to the comment. He can't just leave. Where would he go? He has to at least try to end this. For once. Temmie summons Temmie Flakes and gets into her fighting stance. "Lets fENIsh wat wE starTED. Rite sans?" She says as she looks up. Papyrus looks down at his brothers bandana and rubs the corner. He looks up threateningly and smiles himself.
"It's a beautiful day outside..." He chants as he closes his eyes. Temmie cackles and bends her knees, ready to leap forward.
"Birds are singing... Flowers are blooming..."
She smiles widely, showing her sharp teeth.
"Oh wait. You've heard this before... Haven't you?"
She jumps, laughing manically, sending her Temmie Flakes towards him. He opens his right eye, which is burning with a bright orange flame.
"Well... Let's just get to the point."
He says suspensefully and he snaps. Bones fly and blocks the flakes, and a whole other round of them fly towards the devilish cat. His magic isn't as strong as it should be. But he has to try. He has to try for Sans, even if it's not what he wanted. Giving up isn't an option anymore. He can't afford not to care anymore.
