Callie Evans stared at her fiancée ready to bust out in tears behind the sudden catastrophe he had created.
“You did what?!” She exclaimed as she saw him squirming beneath her hard gaze.
“Well, honey, cupcake, sweetie pie… he said something that made me upset, and well he…uh… quit,” Tony Harper stuttered trying to touch her.
Her dreams of the perfect wedding were coming to an end now that the caterer and baker quit on her because of Tony’s temper.
She stepped up to Tony wishing she could knock the hell out of him. “Do you have jitters that I should know about,” she asked so quietly that he had taken a step back.
“No, I just thought he was rude. Never liked the guy,” Tony defended himself for making the caterer and the baker quit on them a month before their wedding.
“Tony, he was the only caterer not booked for the fourteenth of May, how could you!” She snapped hitting him hard on his chest. Even as a wedding planner, dealing with other people’s soon-to-be husbands was a piece of cake but Callie had seemed to lose patience with her soon-to-be husband more and more.
“Who is going to cook for our party tonight? Did you ever think before you started popping your mouth off,” she kept saying hitting him harder and harder on the chest. It didn’t feel good but to see him cringe and attempt to grab her hands and keep them at her sides was good enough.
Callie was angry enough to have the strength to pull away. Tony was skinny and lanky she could easily run him over with the curvy size twelve body she had. Her brown wavy hair was tangled from nervous fingers running through it all day. Her green eyes pierced his black ones yet again and she growled a curse at him.
“As a wedding planner it is my job to know how to smooth out any kinks and bumps in the road, but let me tell you where you fit in my wedding,” she said stepping up to him again, “You fit behind the scenes. Let me do my damn job; let me have the perfect wedding with the caterer and baker that I want. And you, you sit down and shut up the whole long ride, okay? Okay.” She pushed him aside and ignored the feeble promise he made to “make it up” to her. She ran to the bedroom and slammed the door shut. She grabbed her cell phone and called her sister. Even though she had vowed that her sister would not be cooking in her wedding, she knew Karen would be delighted to hear that a slot just opened in the staff area.
“Karen here,” her older sister answered the phone.
At that moment, Callie was hit hard with the overwhelming emotion that everything was falling apart and as she explained her new-found problem thanks to Tony she had blubbered through most of it.
“I will be right over and I will bring some friends and—”
“No, no! I do not want you cooking at all in my wedding. You are going to be my maid of honor!” Callie exclaimed over the phone.
“I know someone,” Karen offered as a compromise. “He’s a really good friend of mine and I think if I beg him enough he would do the catering for you.”
“Does he know how to bake because the baker bailed too—thanks to that son of—?”
“I think he can whip up a cake or two,” Karen said and Callie could see the smirk she had on her face on the other end.
“To my liking right? I don’t want a chef who has their own opinion about my wedding.” Callie continued.
“Callie trust me I know what you want and I know how to get it for you. However, for tonight I’m cooking your dinner that way Tony won’t look like a total jackass. But know that I’m doing this for you and not for him. And could you send a few punches my way while you wait. Because if I have to punch him he will be going to the hospital,” Karen threatened.
