I'm back home. Dad couldn't care less and neither could Whitney. Funny enough Sage was home today. It's really weird how I don't want a half brother, yet he's older than me. Sage is cool with me being his brother, I'm not. And I just don't get myself sometimes.
During school today Reign was acting really weird. Not that I hang out with her during lunch and free periods. It's not that I'm embarrassed of being seen with her, I'm not. It's just Reign hangs out in the library alone or with Talon, and I don't want to corrupt that. I've already corrupted her life enough by messing with her education and the teachers. Today is weird, she's avoiding me.
I've tried every single thing to stop and ask her what's wrong but she just brushes me off. I think it's because I pulled her out of math class yesterday. I need to find out what's wrong.
"Hey little bro, what are you thinking about?." Sage chants barging into my room. He takes a seat next to me on my bed, sneaking his arm over my shoulder.
"It's nothing." I say shrugging off his arm.
"A girl?." Sage smiles nudging me in the arm.
"Why does everyone think that it's a girl. Every single time, if I'm thinking it's not always about a girl okay?."
"Woah, calm down. You know I was just joking."
"Yeah whatever." I can't believe Sage. He's such a narcissist jerk. "Why are you here?."
He looks at me with disbelief. I sigh and then to face him, motioning him to keep talking, "I live here?." He retorts.
"You don't live in my room. So why are you here in my room?."
"Just wanted to check on my little brother. Is that a bad thing?."
"No it's just-"
I was cut off with the loud ring of my phone. I quickly get off the bed and out of Sage's grip, charging for my phone. I quickly pick up my phone and the caller ID flashes Reign's name. Finally she decides to talk to me.
Oh gosh, I sound so desperate.
"Reign?." I finally answer.
"I'm sorry for avoiding you today. I didn't mean to avoid you, it's just I've been dealing with stuff today. And I-,"
I stopped her to give her time to breathe and re-collect her thoughts because she honestly sounded like she was about to cry. "Reign, it's okay. We all go through things that make us distant from other people. It's okay."
"Do you think you could come over?." She mumbles through the phone "I don't want to be a-alone."
"I'll be right there. See you soon."
"Bye."
"Yeah, bye." I smile hanging up.
I turn round a grab my jacket, hoping to leave soon enough. Luckily my car keys are in the pockets of my jacket. I'm about to leave, turning the knob on my bedroom door-
"Leaving so soon?." Sage chirped clutching his hand to his chest. "Without saying goodbye to your big brother?."
"Okay, goodbye asshole." I salute to him exiting my room and shutting the door behind.
I jog down the golden stairwell and past my fathers work room. Although from the corner of my eye I could see that he was getting comfy with Whitney. Ugh . Hurrying, I take a shortcut through to the garage. Surprisingly it was extremely cold in the garage and the only car we've gotten fixed with a heater is the Mercedes. I guess that's the car I'm using.
Once I'm out of the garage and onto the road, I'm starting to get worried. I shouldn't be. Reign just wants to hang out, nothing more. It's not like I want anything more. Psh, no. Since Reign only lives a couple blocks down, it's quite a short drive. I could've jogged down but I couldn't be bothered to run through all the painfully cold snow.
I park my car right in front of Reign's parents, and step into the snow. Reign's house is that type of warm family welcoming house. I wish I had her type of parents and house. My house has nothing welcoming and family treasuring. Sadly. I drag my boots grudgingly in the snow while making my way to The Wesley's front door.
"Hello Braylon." The door swings open right before I could ring the bell. Right before me stands a smiling lady with deep brown hair and bright blue eyes. I could tell already she's a kind soul.
"Hello Mrs Wesley, may I come in?." I ask in my best 'I'm not a player' voice.
"Come right in." She gestures.
I take a step in and I'm immediately relived that I'm not in my own home. The warmth of a true family surrounds me as I take off my jacket and place it on the coat rack.
I follow Mrs Wesley into their living room that leads upstairs.
"Good Evening Braylon." A voice bellowed from behind me. Reigns dad.
"Good Evening sir." I choked stopping midway up the stairs.
"How's your father?."
How cold I forget. My parents work with her parents. Just great.
I sigh before answering "He's doing good." I force through gritted teeth."
"That's great," Mr Wesley seemed to notice my uneasiness "Go on, Reigns upstairs."
I nod and jog up the stairs. I still remember, Reign's is on the last door at the end of the corridor. I smile knowing I would finally be talking to her after she's been ignoring me.
I push open her bedroom door. I'm appalled.
What's she doing? Oh no. I think to myself.
Reign stood there and she had her back to me. Although she had her back to me, I know what's in her hand.
"Reign, put that down." I shout taking a step forward.
"Braylon..." She turn slightly to me.
I charge at her aiming to grasp the knife out of her hand. Reign sees that I'm trying to take the knife out of her hand. She quickly takes the knife and stabs it into her stomach, falling to the ground.
"Reign..." I fall to the ground placing her head on my lap. She looked so lifeless and pale. She's still breathing and the knife still had its place in her stomach.
What do I do?.
I place my hand, wrapping it around the knife. I try to pull it out but Reign winces in pain. This is no use. I pull out my phone and dial the ambulance. I would call Mr and Mrs Wesley but I can't leave Reign. Reign tried to slap the phone out my hand but failed. The blood is gushing out into my lap so much. There is already a stain on the carpet.
"Reign, why did you do this?" I ask a tear slipping out of my eye and landing on her nose.
"Ciara and Genesis." She breathes.
