Chapter 1-
“Come on, you’re coming to the party.” My best friend, Ally says. “I don’t care what you say, you’re coming whether you like it or not.”
“Okay,” I sigh. “Only if my mum and dad let me.”
She shakes her head slightly and looks at Sandy, “I swear, you and your family are freakishly close.”
Sandy nods her agreement, “My family can’t even go a minute without fighting and I haven’t seen any of your family ever fight. Not once.”
That causes me to smile. “Well that’s because we’re more mature then you guys.” Sandy and Ally both throw a pillow at me from my bedroom floor. “That just makes what I said true.”
Ally snorts then realises what she just did, “Okay, fine you win. Now go ask your parents if you can come to the party tonight.”
I nod, stand up and walk downstairs and into the modern kitchen where mum’s cooking tea. “Mum?”
She glances at me, “What’s up Eliza?”
I sit down at a stool near the counter, “Can I go to a party tonight with Ally and Sandy?”
Mum stops what she’s doing and wipes her hands on her apron before facing me, “Since you’re sixteen I think it’s okay now that you can go to parties but you’ll have to ask your father just in case.”
“Ask me what?” My dad says, walking into the kitchen, his work suit on. He works at a business in the city. Money wise it’s good but it also means that he has to travel a lot. Sometimes we get to go with him but with school and everything it’s quite hard.
“Eliza just asked if she could go to a party.” Mum says.
Dad looks at me and raises an eyebrow. “Since when did my little girl like parties?”
I smile slightly, “Since Ally and Sandy said I had to go.”
He shakes with laughter. “I should have known it was them two.”
“So, can I go?”
There’s a pause. “Of course you can go, as long as you ring us if anything goes wrong. We’ll come straight away.”
“Thanks dad.” I stand up and give him a kiss on the cheek.
He ruffles my hair. Groaning I smooth it out while I walk back up to my bedroom, his laughter following me.
“What did they say?” Ally and Sandy ask when I sit back on the bed.
“They said yes.” I yell and both of the girls scream and run for my wardrobe, pulling every piece of clothing they like out.
Ten minutes later I’m getting changed into a strapless black dress with a purple belt above my waist. Ally who’s dressed in a stunning blue dress, white high heels and Sandy who’s dressed in a rosy red dress and red flats grab me by an arm each and pull me out of the door.
Before we can leave I grab my purse and mobile phone from the kitchen and say one last goodbye to my parents and brother, Jamie before pulling on my black flats and walking outside with my two best friends.
“I’ll drive.” Sandy says and runs to the driver’s seat. Ally rolls her eyes and hops into the backseat as I take the passengers.
“Off we go!” Ally yells and dances around in her seat.

Minutes later we leave the town and pull up outside a country house, the music blearing loudly. Sandy parks the car and Ally’s out, running for the house before anyone can say a word. Sandy and I share a look before laughing. It’s always been Ally who’s the crazy one.
Without a word we leave the car and make our way into the house, dodging all of the drunken and passed out bodies. The first thing that I smell when I walk inside is the smell of vomit, thick and controlling of the air.
I nearly leave right here and now but then I thought about what Ally and Sandy would say, they seemed so happy that I was coming tonight and I don’t want to ruin that for them. Sandy and I stand in the middle of the dance floor for a while before she leans close to my ear.
“I’m going to go find Steel.” She yells through the music and I nod. She smile and walks away, leaving me standing there like a complete idiot.
I take the time to look around; this is the first party I’ve ever been to. There’s lots of people, maybe 150 or more, some dancing, talking, passed out or making out with someone in a dark corner.
After I’ve had a good look around I walk through the house and outside the back door. The first thing I notice outside is the thick layer of tree’s that create sort of an eerie feeling. Looking back to make sure no one’s watching me I walk out further into the woods. I don’t know why I want to go out here but it’s like I can almost feel something in there. If not a something, a someone. It’s creepy when I think about it but somehow I don’t believe that whatever it is will hurt me.
Going off of that feeling I walk further and further into to tree’s until I come to a clearing, a circle that no tree’s grown in. In the centre of the circle is a log. I walk towards it and take a seat.
Through the trees I can still hear the music, but only as background music, creating the eerie feeling again. Suddenly I don’t think it was such a good idea to come out here. Further along the trees a twig snaps and I jump slightly.
Seconds later a man comes stumbling out of the trees, his clothes torn and slightly bloody. It takes a minute or so for him to realise I’m here and when he does, even through the darkness, I see his eyes light up brightly. He begins to run at me as I’m frozen there. Centimetres from his fingers touching me a shadow jumps out of the woods and pushes him to the ground.
The sound of him yelling is followed by a tearing sound and then one last yell before everything goes quiet. The shadow turns to me and when it’s facing me fully I notice it’s a giant black wolf. As our eyes lock the wolfs eyes seem to widen when it sees me. I notice the blood soaking its jawline and the dead body of a wolf lying on the dirty forest floor, no sign of the man anywhere.
That’s all it takes before I’m running back through the trees at a speed I didn’t think possible. I don’t slow down once to see if it’s chasing after me, I don’t let myself breathe until I’m standing inside the house.
Once I’ve caught my breath I walk around until I find Sandy standing with her boyfriend, Steel. “What’s wrong? It looks like you’ve seen a ghost.” She says, amused until she notices that I’m really not okay, her face falls. “What happened?”
I point the way towards the trees, “Man, wolf, blood. So much blood.” I mumble.
“Look, I’ll ring your mum to come and pick you up alright?”
I nod. When I don’t make a move to get my phone from my purse she takes it out herself and dials my mum. There’s talking on the other side.
“It’s Sandy, I think you need to come pick Eliza up,”
“No, she’s had nothing to drink, she’s just sick of it all I think.”
“Yeah okay, see you then.” She hangs up and leads me outside. We take a seat on the porch and wait in silence until the familiar car pulls up. Sandy pulls me to the car and I sit in the backseat with Jamie.
“Is everything okay Eliza?” Mum asks, turning back to look at me.
I nod, coming back into reality. “Everything’s fine, I just really wanted to leave. It was getting too packed.” I lie.
Mum nods and dad starts to drive again, a silence filling the car. Then…
“Steve, watch out!” Mum yells as a giant wolf jumps onto the road. Dad swerves the car causing it to flip and flip, glass and metal flying everywhere. Then as fast as it happened, it’s over. I cough notice how much pain I’m in. I try to open my eyes and see the damage but my eyes refuse to adjust, everything’s a blur.
I register someone pulling me from the car, every movement causing pain to spread through my body. Something like needles jabs into my thigh and a cold sensation shoots through my body, completely numbing the pain. I hear the ambulance’s sirens in the distance racing towards us. My eyes close and everything goes a deathly black.
