"Who's that?" Anna asked, her crimson hair rubbing against my shoulder.
"Jackson Overland-Frost, target one." I replied.
"Oh! He's in our school," Anna mumbled.
"We don't know what he stole yet, but dad's finding out. Mom said she'll get the information back to us by Friday." I said, still watching the boy.
"I'm pretty sure he's in my history class," Anna mumbled.
"Are you even listening to me?!" I asked her.
"What?" She asked, finally snapped out of her daydream.
"We don't know what he stole yet." I said, again.
"What if he didn't steal anything?" Anna replied, as she plopped onto my bed.
"That's impossible," I said "all targets stole something."
"Not quite."
I raise an eyebrow.
"Remember Mr. Windfree? That old guy who's family was murdered in front of him when he was a child."
I nod, shivering at the thought.
"Well, when we captured him, he admitted that he was just working for revenge."
"And...?"
"Maybe Jack is too, he's in my Science and History classes, and he appears pretty innocent. In fact, he's actually...nice." Anna looks down and blushes. Oh shit.
"Anna, sweetie?"
"What?"
"Remember how dad said that we cannot, under any circumstance befriend or fall in love with our targets?"
Her face flushed and she looked away, "Yes..." She squeaked out.
"And what did you just do?"
She looked down, "Fall in love with a target."
"And how are we going to fix this?"
Her face hardened. "We're gonna t-terminate the target."
I smiled, "Good girl, now let's go get ready for school."
