Damien and his brother, Bird hasn't talked to each other for about eight years, but Damien didn't have a choice. He needed his help, and he couldn't think of anyone else that was going to be able to help him. Going to Bird's apartment, he banged on the door. He glanced down at his watch, seeing that it was 3:35 a.m.; but Damien couldn't care less. This was an emergency.
The locks on the door were removed and soon the door was opened revealing Bird's annoyed face. Damien pushes past Bird's body nudging his body forcefully.
"Come on in, make yourself at home," Bird muttered sarcastically as he closed and locked the door.
"Bird, I need your help."
"Didn't I tell you not to call me that stupid nickname?" Bird growled. Bird had gotten that name when he saved a bird who had a broken wing when he was nine. "What are you doing here anyway? It's almost 4 in the morning. You need to leave. I don't want to see you."
"Dude, this is serious. I really do need your help!"
"I don't care what you need. I haven't talked to you in God knows how long, and you expect me to help you? I don't want to have anything to do with you."
"You've never tried to contact me either!"
"Yeah, because I don't want to have anything to do with you not then, and especially not now. So, get out of my house and leave me alone." Bird walks over to the door opening it and points at it. "Now, leave. Don't come back here anymore."
"I killed someone."
Bird stares at Damien for a few seconds mouth slightly open. He closes the door and looks at his brother. "What did you say?"
"Look, i-i-it was an accident. I didn't mean for it to happen. Things got out of control, and now she's dead."
"What happened?"
"I had called one of my friends Eric to come over after I was heading home from work. Stacy and I live together, and I knew that she wasn't going to be upset if I invited him over. So, I didn't tell her my plans, and besides I was expecting her to be in the kitchen fixing dinner or something. Do you know what she was doing? Packing! She was actually packing! I know exactly why too, because she wants that idiot Chandler. She was planning on leaving me for him!
"So, I lashed out at her. She, of course, argued back. The next thing I knew, I hit her. She didn't like that too well, so she hit me back. We started physically fighting, and me being sick of it, I smacked her a little bit harder and she fell back hitting her temple on the table. Blood was on the table and on the floor, and it scared me. I checked her pulse, but I didn't feel one. Scared, knowing that I killed her, I left and went to the bar trying to forget. Please, Bird, I need your help!"
"Dude, I'm not about to get involved with this. You need to go to the police and confess on what happened. Matter of fact, I should turn you in myself."
"Please, Bird, I have no one else to go to!"
"I could care less! You need to leave, and I mean now!"
Damien grabbed Bird and pushed him harshly against the wall staring him coldly in the eyes. "If you want me to keep your secret, then I suggest that you help me cover up mine."
