I followed Sarah out to the car, she sat in the drivers seat, her hands held the steering wheel with a tight grip, but her eyes just stared at the main doors to the hospital.

I opened the door carefully and sat next to her.

"He's my only friend" I sighed, "He's all I really have right now and I need to be here, here for him and for me",

"Ann your just a child, you should not be in the middle of a waging war, these people kill"  she shook her head, but didn't stop staring at those doors.

"The Government kill people too, you cant paint one group of people and allow the rest to colour themselves"

"Ann, I am the adult here ok, what I say goes" she sighed.

"so you can point to a person and chant murder, but that does not make them one".

"I know Ann, but this, this it just too much, I need some air". Sarah slid out from the car allowing the cold breeze to enter the small car.

After she had left my sight, I too slid from the car and walked as fast as I could into the hospital. I was not only straying from Sarah's sight but from most workers in the hospital, I had to see Derek.

The crowd in the hospital had grown as families gathered, waiting.

I lid through the people, feeling the covers on their skin against mine.

I entered a yellow hallway that had safety signs and paintings dotted along the walls. I looked into almost all the rooms, but straying from the eyes of doctors and nurses, each room was a fail.

I came to the last room before the two turns into different halls and there he was.

His body was sprawled along the white bed sheets and his arm in a cast, he didn't look as injured as I though he would, just a few bruises along his face.

I took a grip of the steel handle and pulled it down, the door wouldn't budge, I Tried pushing harder and still nothing.

I knocked on the window hoping to grab his attention, but his eyes remained closed, not  even a flutter.

I kept knocking, each time my fist hit the window the harder the banging got.

"please Derek" I cried.

I kept knocking, harder and harder, I needed him to see, to see that I came, that I cared.

His head tilted and my heart sped, "come on Derek"

He turned his head towards the door and his eyes slowly fluttered, opening. I finally had his attention.

soon his eyes were fully open, but I could tell by his face that he was confused, and dazed, before he got the chance to become fully aware my bicep was grabbed and I was spun around.

"Excuse me miss can you please leave this area",

I hung my head low and walked don the hallway, each tile was blurrier then the first as the tears began to fill my eyes and fall onto my red cheeks, he wont know that I came.

I went out to the parking lot to find that Sarah's car was gone, she had left me. How could she just leave me here, we were miles from her miles from both our homes, but even if mine was closer I would still head for hers and so I did.

In the darkness of night, all alone and feeling lower then ever, I began the walk to Sarah's.
