Fantasies

Remember those fantasies you had as a kid?

That the floor was lava.

That fairies existed. And that we was one too.

That you had super powers that were waiting to be waken.

Remember trying to use your supposedly kinetic powers to move that cup?

Ya I do too. Those were the days when I dreamt dreams and ran like there was no tomorrow, just to feel the wind on my face and the prickliness of the freshly mown grass.

I thought that if I swung the swing high enough, I would be able to touch the sky.

I thought that if I looked hard enough, I would be able to see the tooth fairy change my tooth for a coin.

I thought that the monster was going to grab my leg and drag me away.

I thought that my blanket would protect me from all the ghosts and murders that came at night.

Just because we grow older, doesn't mean that we have to give up imagination. No one said santa wasn't real. No one said that the elves didn't come at night to eat those cookies or that our toys came alive at night.

They couldn't prove it.

We just stopped believing. Why?
