Fog flowed out of the door as we stepped in. I felt my soul tighten. There was nothing in here but black fog and dark emptiness. I followed Trey, he seemed to know where he was going. There were a couple of ghosts roaming around. They stopped and stared when we walked by, moaning and groaning as they come. I didn't like this place, it made my body feel numb and it felt like if I wasn't careful my soul would jump out my body. How much farther until we see this death guy? I heard about death through book in the library and on the Internet. He was suppose to be the keeper of souls, one of the strongest beings out there but I never thought that I was going to be meeting him in person. What if he try's to eat my soul? I don't think that would be fun at all.
We finally stop at the edge of a cliff. Wait!? We were just walking for what I think was a hour just to stop at a cliff? WHERE THE HELL IS THIS DEATH GUY AT AND HOW MUCH LONGER IS THIS GOING TO TAKE?!
"You seem frustrated, Trey finally spoke. Its not that much longer just bear with me."
I sneered then continued to walk behind him in the forever abyss.
"So, what exactly is this place?"
"This is the realm of the dead. This is were all the souls go before subjected to the underworld or the world above. The souls you see lingering around are "rebels" souls that are way to scared to receive judgement and pass on, so they will stay here until Lord Death comes for them."
"Ok, so where is this Death guy at? All I have been seeing was fog, darkness, and lingering souls."
"He's right there" Trey said pointing into the distances. I didn't see anything at first but when the fig cleared a little bit I saw flights off stairs leading to a light at the top.
"He's up there?"
"Yes, Lord Death is up there, we have to climb all of the steps to reach him."
I looked at all the steps. It looked like 5,000,000 or more. This was not on my to do list. I wasn't expecting to walk for an hour to find out I have to walk up a life time of steps, that's not fair to me.
"Um is there a easier way to get up there?"
He looked at me. Then at the stairs. Then back at me.
"Um to be honest I don't really know. Every time I come here I just walk up the steps."
My head dropped, this is not my day. I looked at the rings on my necklace and remembered why I came here in the first place. I have to save Sidney before its to late.
"Alright lets just get this over with."
He patted my shoulder then started to walk, I followed up after him.
I thought that I was going to be nothing but a bag of bones before I got to the top, but it didn't take no time at all. I was being a baby for no reason.
We got to the top of the long staircase. Up here was a giant pot and two pathways. One if them going up to some type of light, an the other going down to I think was flames. I gripped my stomach, I can hear the screams and they cries on those souls down in the underworld. I think I'm going to be sick, maybe if I kill myself then this pain will stop.
Trey tapped me. I looked at him with fear in my eyes.
"Calm down, I hear it to. The best way to calm yourself is not to ignore it, but except it into your heart and your soul. Let there cries and pain be your shield, if not Lord Death will take your soul.
I looked at him and toke his warning. The last thing I want is for death to take my soul before I save Sidney. I closed my eyes, instead of trying not to hear there moans I listened to them, making them one with me. The pain in my chest subsided and I felt way better than before.
"Now that you feel better. Lets get down to business."
Trey went to the front desk that wad in front of the pot and rang the little bell on the top. It sounded like something a vampire in a movie would play on one of those giant pianos.
We waited for a minute or so then the pot started to shake. Is this Death? Is he going to be like the books and movies say? I seen a Hand come out of the pot, it was covered in some green goo. The goo slid down the side and plopped on the ground. Then it made its way under the desk. Sweat ran down my face and my heart rate increased. Then pops a little kid wearing a funny looking mask on the side of his face goes from under the desk.
"Welcome to the judgement room. Im Death."
I stared at his smile with utter disappointment. This is Death? He was smaller than Trey was. He looked five, his fog like hair covered his eyes, and he wore a black coat. It looked like he was going trick or treating for holloween, come on....GIVE ME A BREAK.
"Hello lord Death Trey said. We have come with a question."
"Oh sure, sure you always welcome to ask me anything."
"Wait!"
The Both looked at me in confusion.
"We have been walking for hours just to see a little kid that call himself Death!? Why do all you people look like you should be in kindergarten?"
Death stared at me. He then looked down, he looked at himself the looked back at me.
"Heh, just because your not what you expected, Doesn't mean your not the real deal. You shouldn't judge people on there sizes Eric."
"Well I- wait? How do you know my name?"
He chuckled, walked to the pot and knocked on it three times. The pot started to spit out smoke that showed parts of my life. My mouth dropped as I seen things I didn't remember.
"You both came here with the same question. To see if it was the blood organization that kidnapped Sidney, and to see what there motive is."
"Yeah. That's right" we both said at the same thing.
"You know I'm not suppose to answer those type of questions. What's in it for me?"
"I know exactly what you want death" Trey said pulling out a lollipop.
He snatches it and pops the whole thing in his mouth. He groaned a little then jumped a couple of times.
"Well you talked me in to it" he laughed smacking the side of the pot.
"This will show you where Sidney is Eric, you'll learn all the answers here."
We both stared into the smoke and seen Sidney unconscious.
"S...Sidney don't worry, I'm coming."
