Chapter 19

9:00 PM

"Jay, do you think Nick would have already gotten home by now?" 

"I doubt it. I saw him getting into one of those old crusty ass cars. And in fact we'll probably pass by the car half way, since I've got the fastest car in the village." 

"And how long will that be?" 

"Maybe like 30 minutes?" 

"Alright. Thanks Jay. You're the best." I say genuinely. 

"I swear I'm not flirting with you but your accent is hot. Keep talking to me." I see him smiling. 

Jayden was so nice. I couldn't believe what an amazing boy he was, guys at my school could never be like him Except for Nick of course - nobody in the WORLD could get to NICK'S LEVEL.  

"How are you feeling now Cam? After all the craziness that happened?" Jayden asked. 

"Honestly? My mind is only thinking about him right now. The rest? I'll worry about it later. I just really want to see Nick right now"

"You know what? I hated Nick at first, but when I think about it now, he was actually just being so over-protective about you. And it worked! He scared me off from hitting on you" He chuckled. "He loves you very much." 

"I hated Nick at first too, how ironic. I wish he showed everyone the side he shows me."

"I guess that side is just specially reserved for you!" 

"Holy shit Jay..." I mumble in shock, looking down the cliff.  

My eyes widen, I feel my face freezing, my heart beat almost stops. What was going on. 

My biggest fear was right in front of my eyes: fire.

"What happened????" 

"STOP THE CAR NOW!!!" I cry. 

He stops and looks at me as though I had gone crazy. I put my face onto his shoulder and close my eyes and try to make the world around me disappear. Hesitantly and awkwardly, without saying anything, he gives me a long hug. 

After like 5 minutes of comforting me in the silence he finally speaks.

"So... What happened? Are you....ok?" He sounds scared. 

My eyes were still closed and my face was shoved into his body.

"I have a huge phobia of fire." I force the words out of my mouth, "look down the cliff." 

"No way. No freaking way. This can't be-" He shrieks. 

"WHAT?!???" 

"Oh my god" 

"WHAT?????!" I scream.

"There is a crashed car... it's green and.."

"AND WHAT? FUCKING WHAT??" 

"Camila we need to help them!!" 

Before I could stop him, he leaves my hold and gets out of the car and starts yelling for me to come out. I couldn't believe he was forcing me to get out, after seeing how scared I was. But I had to fight my fear. I had to get down there for that one assumed bigger fear I had in my mind right now. I was trying to avoid the catastrophic thought but something told me that I shouldn't avoid it. 

I got out of the car and felt the heat of the fire, even though we were like a 100 meters away from it. I looked directly into the fire and felt myself get closer to death than I ever was before. I knew it wasn't going to harm me, but there was some burning feeling inside my heart just from the sight. Maybe I was feeling like this because someone had died in the crash, but hopefully we can save them now.
