Tell me something,
This other that you've found love with,
Is it as good as we were?
I can accept you finding happiness elsewhere;
But what I cannot accept is you settling for lesser treatment,
When you've a permanent home in my soul.
My unsolicited hope will never allow me to close my heart to you.
And if this other is treating you as anything less than a goddess,
As if you're not worth the effort of sweet surprises,
Maybe you should reconsider the decision you've made.
These things your love is unwilling to do, even after you've asked,
I would have done before you even thought of them yourself.
But sweetheart, even if those things were provided to you,
There are others that can only be given by a woman.
I must ask you one final thing,
For I question his merit.
Tell me beautiful, can he measure up,
Or are you merely debasing yourself,
Your desert, for the proximity?
