I didn't ask for unreasonable amounts of your time.
Not once did I look to change a single thing about you.
I wanted for your loyalty,
In order to feel secure in us.
I needed your honesty
To maintain my trust in you.
I yearned for the happiness that makes food taste better,
Air smell sweeter,
Happiness I'd only found in you.
I needed you to stand with me.
I did not need those drunk texts
That no amount of music could make me forget.
Never asking for promises of a future,
I only needed you to make me smile in the moment.
A simple request, I think,
Being as I smiled as soon as you entered the room.
All you did in return for my full attention and admiration,
Was strengthen my feelings,
With the end game of imploding them with your deceitful tricks.
