Chapter 2
3 Days later
"You sure that is the last of it Krissy?" Her mom asked her pulling down the roll-up door on the U-Haul they had rented.
Krissy nodded. "You steal my money for this too?" She asked motioning to the van.
"Krissy, I borrowed your money. And actually, no. Grandma paid for this."
"Oh so you conned your mom too. Or she couldn't wait to get rid of you."
"Krissy, she didn't con me and I love having you guys here. I wanted to help." Her grandmother was standing behind her. "Now remember, I am coming out next week. I will be the first guest!" Her grandmother said giving her a hug. "And Krissy, give your mom a break... She's trying." Her grandmother told her in a low voice.
"So all of our guests get to clean and work? How great!" She said sarcastically, hugging her grandmother back.
"Again, Krissy, I want to help." Her grandmother told her.
Krissy got in the passenger seat of the truck. Jacob had already claimed the seat between her mother and her. "Hi ya Jake!" Krissy said moving the hair out of her brother's eyes.
"It's Jacob." Her mother said getting in the driver's side. "Remember mom, drive my car down, then I'll drive you home after Christmas." The family had decided to spend Christmas at the hotel then take Granma back home New Years Eve.
"If you didn't want the moniker Jake for your son, you should have gone with Joseph." Krissy said, Joseph, was what her dad had wanted to call his son.
"Oh and I guess you love the name Agatha?" Her mother asked referring to what her dad had wanted to name her.
Krissy wrinkled her nose, she despised the name Agatha. "Well, Aggie is better than Krissy. Kristinna isn't even spelled right." Krissy retorted.
"Krissy are we gonna do this for the next hour?" Her mother asked putting the van in drive.
"Nope! I can't possibly wait till we get to this haunted dump you have bought for us!" Krissy mocked eagerness.
"Haunted? Our hotel is haunted?" Jacob asked excited.
"No Jacob it isn't haunted. Krissy don't try to scare your brother." her mother retorted.
"Jake isn't scarred mom. He's a big boy! Right Jake." Asked Krissy moving the hair out of her brother’s eyes.
"Nope! I turn 8 soon!" Jacob said referring to his birthday in January
"Don't give Jacob nightmares" Rebecca said emphasizing the ob.
