You know that whole superstition thing where girls on board of a pirate ship brings bad luck? Well, that's kind of how this story starts. My name is Charlie, and I am a seahand, or well was until they found out my secret. I worked the deck, and on the occasion that we took captives, which was almost never, I made sure they didn't die, not until Captain Jacque wanted them to at least. The crew was close as family. Except for the fact that since I took care of captives, I had to sleep down in the hold. That was never really a problem, I got to hear the interesting stories people told me while they were stuck down there.
At one point we imprisoned a young lady, she couldn't have been older than 20. She told me the most amazing story. People seem to really open up when they realize they are coming close to the end. If someone is there to listen they will hear the most amazing, most interesting stories. The reason i'm so fascinated with this particular story is because of the sirens. She told me her theory of how Sirens were the girls thrown off of pirate ships, because they were bad luck, and the only reason they killed pirates was to get their revenge. At the time I didn't really think a lot of it, but now i wish i had listened a lot closer to what she was saying.
When it came her time to walk the plank she was brave as could be. Right before being pushed to the edge, she looked directly at me and said "Remember the Sirens, and me." After that she jumped right off. Well it was more of a fall, since she had her legs bound together. She didn't fight the water, she just slowly disappeared into the deep blue sea, never breaking eye contact with me. Right before she went completely out of sight I saw a type of stirring, a slight change in the water around her, then she was gone.
*Authors Notes*
So this story was sort of inspired because I love all things that have to do with pirates, and also because i've always been curious as to how sirens could have been formed, and what pirates may have thought about them, so I hope you guys like it.
