"Is this the last of your stuff?" Peering over my sunglasses, I could see Freddy smacking his two hands together before closing the hood of the trunk after recieving a nod of approval from me.
With one final glance over the horizon which I had spent my entire childhood in but which now only stood as a distant memory, I got myself into the car. Closure is one thing I hadn't gotten yet. Many nights I would just spend underneath my cover, my ears occupied by loud music in an attempt to drown out the world. This was exactly how I dealt with it, I didn't know what else I could do. My entire being was numb.
But no matter how hard I wished that time travel was possible right now, I couldn't change the events that had unravelled, abruptly changing my life. The only way I can get on with my life is by moving forward, and surrounding myself in the same place would only hold me back, so that's why I had decided to adapt myself in a different environment and go to Indiana to start a new chapter in my life with Freddy, my uncle.
He was a nice person. His style consisting of plaid, boots and farmer hats, Freddy was the first person who came banging on the door as soon as he heard about the incident, and quite frankly the only person. I appreciate everything he's doing for me, despite the fact I've never let him know that.
'You ready kiddo?" He asked, kicking the car into ignition.
Ultimately, the journey was silent, and whilst I had plugged my ears, Freddy had put on the radio and he was undeniably engaged into the music. I wasn't sure as to what song was on, but I would bet the ipod in my hands that it was definitely a country song as I saw his fingers tapping a beat on the steering wheel. Yes, I was that sure!
We didn't talk much at all and much to my relief, and I'm sure Freddy's too, we had reached our destination.
