Chapter 5
“It’s ok; let’s just go to your room.” I whisper now ready for a fight.
She doesn’t move, but stands there facing me with her head down looking defeated. I put my hands carefully on her arms and say “Lana please look at me.”
She moves her head up slowly and looks at me with tears and hurt in her eyes. At this moment I haven’t been so sure of one single thing in my entire life. Its crazy, but I love this girl.
All this emotion hit me like a freight train as I look into her eyes. “Lana, I promise I will not let anything happen to you. You are safe with me. Let’s head to your room ok?”
“Ok.” She whispers back.
She starts to walk to her room when I hear one of the guys say “Well look who showed up.” The same man walks over to Lana and tries to pull on her wrist.
I lose it and punch him in the face. He falls to the floor with one of his hands covering his now bloody nose. This gets everyone’s attention, and now all of Jay’s friends come to me at once. I quickly pick up Lana and run to what I guess is her room and then shut and lock the door. Soon the men all start punching and kicking the door.
I put Lana down. “Lana, I’m so sorry about this. I hope I put you in the right room. Start packing while I hold these guys off.”
“Ok. This is my room. I guess we got lucky.” She says and then starts going through her dresser for clothes.
I get as close to the door as possible and yell “I AM A POLICE OFFICER. MY NAME IS OFFICER MAYBRIGHT. I’M OFF DUTY RIGHT NOW, BUT THAT WON’T PREVENT ME FROM HAULING ALL OF YOUR ASSES TO JAIL.”
The pounding stopped and I heard the front door open and slam shut.
“Lana don’t go anywhere. Stay here and pack. I am going to go out and make sure everyone is gone.”
“Ok.” She says back.
I open the bedroom door and poke my head out. No sign of anyone. I walk out the door and go back to the living room. Everyone is gone except for Lana’s roommate and the man I punched in the face.
“What are you still doing here?” I say to the man now angry as hell.
“I’m here for Lana. It’s none of your business so fuck off.” He says back.
“Listen asshole, get out of here now or I will arrest you. You will not get anywhere near Lana. This is your last warning.” I say getting ready to fight this jerk again.
He tries to walk past me towards Lana’s room. I push him towards the front door. He tries to punch me, but I block it and kick his legs out from under him. He falls to the floor. I get on top of him and punch him in the nose again hoping I break it this time. He yells out in pain. I turn him over on his stomach and put his arms behind his back. I pulled out my hand cuffs from my back pocket and put them on him.
“What’s your name?” I say while holding my badge in his face.
“Jason Hastings.” He says back.
“Well Mr. Hastings, don’t you know that you shouldn’t hit a police officer?” I say with a smile on my face.
“Don’t worry officer. There are more looking for Lana. I’m not giving up names so don’t ask.” He says what a sly smile.
I put my foot on his back while I pull out my cell phone. I call an on-duty officer to pick him up. After I give the officer all the details, I hang up. I lean down to Mr. Hastings’s ear and say “I will hunt down every single one of you assholes. You were just too stupid and stayed.”
