Where I'm From

This is a parody of George Ella Lyon's "Where I'm From" poem that I had to write for school. Only those who actually know me will understand most of this, but it's deep and meaningful to me so might as well publish it on here.

Dedicated to @Blythe_Gayle02 and @AwesomeJonah216 -- thanks for the best childhood anyone could have asked for! Love you guys so much! <3

I am from the diagnosis
from medications and adaptations

I am from Apartment 714.
comforting, full of imagination;
teeming with joyful childhood memories.

I am from the dirt,
the pineapple
a prickly outside and sweet on the inside

I'm from camping trips and smooky stories,
from Jonah and Blythe

I'm from the sarcastic comments,
and hairy floors
from you can't and you're different

I'm from my own God
one who accepts everyone to his church,
people who can love whoever they want to

I'm from Madison and Ellen and Bob,
Gourmet Grilled Cheeses and butter on saltines

From the best summer of our lives,
the summer my brother and friend and I were free

Eagle River and Governor Dodge photos
with snapshots of sandy beaches and campfire s'mores

I am from homemade scrapbooks and computer hard drives,
of pictures containing stories and memos
that are merely ghostly memories we'll never forget
