I am aroused to the smell of baked bread. Ugh, after about 16 years of smelling that stupid bread you get weary of it. Awoken just in time though, I can see Katniss through my window. She does her usual. Puts her ear near the fence (which I am pretty sure is to see if the electricity in the fence is active) and slips under the hole where the fence is loose. After she is under it she escapes into the woods.

Usually at this time we would start the ovens and make bread. But today is the day of the reaping. I hate the Capitol. Throw 24 kids who had nothing to do with the rebellion into an arena, watch them slowly go insane until they snap. Going crazy and then they start to kill just to get out of that bloody arena and to their family.

Gale, Katniss's hunting parter, stops by early to get some bread. Of course he would want it, the freshness even though it is a day old is still way better than the tessera bread.

My name has only been put in the pool of names 4 times so my chances are slim but it is not impossible for my name to get drawn. I throw on my suit that my father has laid out for me. One that he probably wore for his reaping day. We make our way to the square. They check all of the kids in and round us all into groups based on our age. I see Katniss as beautiful as ever in a dress. She looks very tense, when I see her face when she is entering the woods she looks calm and in control. She is probably stressed about the reaping. Effie Trinket, the announcer that every year draws the name of the boy and the girl who will enter the Hunger games, crosses the stage. "And may the odds ever be in your favor" she states happy. "And the girls first" she reaches for the glass bowl with all of the girls names in it. Effie grabs a slip and pulls it out. She reads it off. Luckily it is not Katniss, but sadly it is her little sister. The one that trades her milk for bread. "Primrose Everdeen" Effie shouts out joyfully.
