After finally completing every single puzzle Papyrus had prepared, it was time for their fight.

Frisk still insisted on sparing everyone, even those who didn't want to be spared, just like what they did to Toriel. This fight was beyond Chara's control. They couldn't manipulate Frisk's decisions. All they could do was to give Frisk a second chance..

And apparently a third, and fourth, and fifth, and sixth..and..and... okay that's just too much to count. This kid is dying a lot, like DAMN. You're pushing it buddy. Chara was just sorta annoyed at this point. They just waited for Frisk to get it over with, wether it's dying, or actually managing to spare the goddamn skeleton. They sat at the side of the road, under a tree. "Come ooooon, Frisky. Your big bro/sis Chara has already had enough of your aimless shenanigans. Get it oooover wiiiith..." They said in frustration. Resetting a timeline really takes a lot out of you. That's why Chara is exhausted right now and couldn't be happier if Frisk would actually end the fight.

"I couldn't agree more."

What. Who said that. Chara stood up and turned around. "Hey, no need to be scared buddy. You look like you've seen a ghost." Laughter was heard from the opposite side of the tree. "Get it? 'Cause you're already dead." Chara backed away from the tree. Something suddenly touched their shoulder from behind. Chara took out a knife and tried to stab whatever was behind them, but it was a miss. "Ah, i didn't come here to fight you." The voice sounded familiar. It sounded like.... Sans? Chara turned around to find out that they were indeed correct. "I know you're just here to protect your little sibling, and so am I. So i want to offer you a deal, pal. You can't interfere in whatever path that Frisk chooses. I don't care how many times you reset the timeline to revive them, just as long as you don't interfere in their fights. I know by seeing their face, that the kid is a nice guy. Unlike you." Sans paused, and his left eye was suddenly engulfed in a blue flame, "And if you do interfere by changing their path or manipulating their choices in any way, i'm not gonna come after you, heh, of course not. But your little Frisky... is going to have a bad time." With a sudden blue flame appearing out of nowhere, he was gone.

Chara, truthfully, was terrified. Not of Sans. But of Frisk getting hurt. In the state that they're in, they couldn't possibly kill Sans. No, if they even try to, Frisk will probably be on the line. The only thing they could do now is to do what Sans instructed them to. Not to mess with Frisk's choices. Which would be easy enough i guess, since that's currently out of their control. But since this conversation with Sans, Chara had always been on edge. Getting a little bit more worried than they were supposed to.

Frisk was finally able to spare Papyrus, by going on a date with him. Chara didn't enjoy it though, they did like the skeleton, but not to the point of dating, not even a platonic one. After passing through Snowdin, Frisk came to the waterfall. Ah, what memories. Chara spent quite a lot of time in here, and even saved a couple of sentences in the echo flowers. Frisk wandered off on their own, without Chara following this time. The monsters around here weren't that hard.. well, except for Undyne. But Frisk probably isn't going to go there for a while. Chara strolled along the path they remembered. And they came across a piano. "Oh yeah, i used to play this with Asriel back in the days.." Chara laughed to themselves as the flashbacks started playing, "Hahah, i sound like an old man. A bit like Dad, maybe?" A smile started growing on Chara's face. It was nice having a family for a while, though it probably would've been even better if Frisk was there too.

"Here it is!" They said as they found something on the ground. Chara bowed down and gently pushed the center of one of the flowers. "Y'know, Chara? I've been wondering.. why do you want to go back to the surface so much? I mean, you did say yourself that you hated humanity." "Hahah, it's just because i wanna see Frisky. I wanna see my little sibling grow up and play with them. I want Frisk to be a part of our family." "But what if they hate monsters?" Laughter was heard from the flower. "Hey, i'm serious!" "I dou--" The conversation ended. Chara pushed the next flower as they sat down. "--bt it." There was a slight pause, "Then what if you don't find them?" "They'll find me, Asriel." A scream was heard from the flower, "Kids! Kids!" "That must be mom, c'mon Chara, let's go back before mom gets mad at us!" "Right behind you!" The sound of footsteps getting further and further was heard, untill there was no more. The conversation had ended there. Chara slowly stood up and went back to find Frisk, "I was right, wasn't I? They did find me, Asriel." Chara smiled, with glazed eyes. "And they don't hate monsters, either."
