FrUK: From The Start

Part Twenty Six

Some of you may know that I'm cosplaying Allen for con this year. I have two pick up lines to use currently:
"I don't normally eat meat but I'll make an exception for you."
And
"Us Americans don't put the letter U in much, but I like to put a U in me;)"

Over the next few months, Arthur became larger and larger. He didn't eat much apart from the food offerings Matthew left behind when he wasn't at school.
It wasn't until six months in, late in October, that Arthur finally called Lukas up.
"Arthur? I haven't heard from you since...listen, I'm sorry. I heard you and Francis got-"
"I'm pregnant."
"What?"
"I'm six months along. It's yours."
Lukas went silent. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Honestly? I just want to forget any of that even happened."
"I'm so sorry. You and Francis broke up because of me. Didn't you?"
"Well...we weren't in the best condition before...all that..."
"So...the baby?"
"Yeah..."
"I'm moving back to Norway, Arthur. I don't know if I can help you out."
"Why can't you stay?"
Lukas sighed. "It's just so hard here. Everything reminds me of him...them..."
Arthur looked down at his protruding stomach, knowing that he was truly alone.
"Look, all I have to offer right now is child support. But if you wanted to move to Norway with us-"
"No. Matthew finally made a friend. I don't want to pull him away from what little stability he has."
"I understand."
Arthur sighed. "I've got to go."
"See you."
"Bye."
Arthur hung up the phone and dropped it onto the couch. He lay down on the floor, crying until he had run out of energy.
By the time Matthew got home from school, the Brit was still, eyes staring forward.
"Dad? Dad?!" Matthew moved his father onto the couch, pressing his hand against his forehead to check for a fever. Finding nothing, the boy pushed his father onto his side and ran off, coming back with a blanket. He tucked it around his father and turned the tv on to Doctor Who.
He looked at Arthur expectantly. The Brit managed a weak smile and held out his hand. "Matthew..."
"Dad?"
"Thank you..."
He may not have Francis or Lukas. But he did have somebody by his side.
He could get through this.
