The phone rang and Thomas picked it up, "Hello" ,he said." "Hi, is this Thomas?" "Yes, who is this?" The man began to have a conversation with Thomas explaining that they got a call from his sister but Lost the connection before they could trace it. Thomas quickly packed his bags and got all his old climbing gear. Thomas walked into his room and stopped. He waited for a moment and then turned his head to his closet. He slowly walked towards his closet and opened it. The door creaked open with a faint screeching sound. As Thomas looked into the closet he pulled out his fathers old hunting rifle. When Thomas was younger, before Stacy could climb, he and his dad would go climbing together. His father always said, "No matter where you climb, there will always be wild life. Dangerous or not, you always have to be safe." "He was right,"
Thomas said. One day Thomas and his dad were climbing and the park ranger wouldn't let his dad bring his rifle. The man said the mountains were safe. Thomas' dad argued the man for awhile but it was fruitless. Thomas and his dad went farther up the mountain and got to some flat ground. They stopped for a while which as a bad idea because about 3 minutes after they stopped a large grizzly bear came out of the bushes with two small cubes. The cubes were startled and started to get scared. The mother attempted to protect her cubes and charged at Thomas. His dad ran out of nowhere and hit the bear with a large stick. The bear shook his head, stunned by the blow. It turned its attention to Thomas' dad and started to charge again. He was tackled to the ground yelling, telling Thomas to run. Thomas turned around and ran listening to his dad. When he got to the bottom he waited for his dad for hours, but his dad never came. The ranger came back with his dad's hat and gave it to Thomas. Thomas fell to his knees crying for a while. After, he slowly got up grabbed his fathers gun and limped away. Ever since then Thomas never climbed again, but now his sister was in danger, it was time. He put the rifle in his bag with some extra ammo, some food, water and a radio with extra batteries. He grabbed his stuff and ran out the door. Tossing his bags into his car he pulled out of the driveway screeching down the street. Thomas drove to the closest airport he could find and got a ticket. He hopped in the plane and headed on his way. When Thomas landed he got of the plane taking his bags and heading to the next plane. He had to fly in a propellor plane like Stacy because this flight would take him into the mountains. As Thomas waited for the plane to fuel up another plane came in with a man on it. He had some hiking gear as well as dirt all over his face. He walked up to Thomas and laughed saying that he was the second climber he had seen in one day. Thomas looked at him shocked, wondering if he was talking about Stacy. "Was that climber you meet earlier a girl?" Thomas asked frantically. "Yeah, she was very nice. I believe her name was Stacy. Why?" Thomas grabbed the man by the shoulders asking him if he could show him where she was. The man wondered why Thomas was so frantic and worried, until Thomas finally explained what was going on. The man grabbed his stuff and jumped up into the plane with Thomas, telling him that he would show him where she was when they split up. Thomas thanked him and climbed into the plane sitting down next to him. They began to talk for a little while about Stacy until the man shouted abruptly, "Oh, and by the way I'm Hue just to let you know." "In Thomas, Stacy's older brother." He said.the plane landed and they both grabbed their gear from the back of the plane and climbed down onto the soft ground. Thomas walked up to the pilot and thanked him for the ride. The pilot nodded and went to fly away when he stopped and shut down the plane. He ran down Thomas and Hue. Panting, the man said to them, " there, is a-a hurricane moving in to the mountains. You-you need to get out of here fast. Thomas and Hue looked at him for a second and then thanked him again they turned and ran forward with a goal to save Stacy. Hue told Thomas that Stacy and him walked to the base of the mountain over here, pointing to a spot by the mountain. Thomas said,"ok, so I can just climb up eventually I'll find her, right?" "Well, not necessarily. You see in this fog most of the time climbers get off track and get separated from where they started." Thomas looked up the mountain and took a deep breathe. He grabbed his gear and started to set up all of his stuff. Hue looked at him and said, " I'm going to hike up the trails. She could have found a grass patch and used it to find her way to the hiking trails." Thomas looked at him and nodded. Hue said goodbye and set off to try and find Stacy. Thomas grabbed his rope and put his foot in a crevice in the side of the mountain. He looked up and thought to himself, " Hang on sis."
