Kissing Rex might have been one of the most exciting things since learning to ride a bike. I felt all emotions wash over me at once. Guilt, anxiety, passion you name it i felt it. He was gentle but I knew there was something holding him back, perhaps because we were so new to eachother. He propped me on the window sill as we kissed. Suddenly there was a loud bark and we shot apart, his eyes were wide and I ungracefully flew off the windowsill. urgh, its nextdoor's dog. I let go of a breath I hadn't realized I was holding. I looked at Rex, his face was bright red.
"uh, I'd better get to bed," He glanced up at me," call if you need anything." And with that I left the room my heart thumping against my chest. I don't think even I could believe that that had happened. I cannot wait to tell Jasmine, oh boy what will she say?
The next morning there was a flurry of activity, we'd managed to contact Rex's parents and his father and brother rang our doorbell, turns out his father works a few blocks away. Convenient I must admit. Anyway, while his father thanked us warmly for our care, Rex and I stood akwardly in the living room. He hadn't even spoken to me that morning and I wondered if all teh things he'd said the night before were even meaningful. A sudden awful feeling of being used crept up in my mind and I gasped.
"Maureen?" He looked at me, with such worry in his eyes.
"huh?" I looked up at him. Oh how I wanted to hug him, feel his arms around me. it sent shivers up my spine.
"You just gasped, are you alright?" He walked over to me and put his hand on my arm. It felt like sparks.
"I'm fine." I couldn't look into his beautiful eyes without wanting to tell him the affection I felt.
"Hey, tomorrow night my cousin is going to his girlfiriends party, I'd love you to come." The words made me choke. A party, with him? Hell yes!
"yeah, sure."
"Hey," He pushed something into my hand," text me if its fine with your mom." Just then his brother walked through, we shot apart and he raised his eyebrow.
"Gotta get home Rexy, mama has been worrying." His brother winked at me, causing my cheeks to flame.
"Thanks Maureen." He smiled as he left and I couldn't help feeling a jolt as soon as his car turned the corner.
